My sight reading is way below my playing level, apparently sad.gif

Looks like I'm going to be spending the next few weeks torturing myself reading through random stuff...

I doubt anyones sight reading level is the same as their playing level..!

Which is probably why they give you sight-reading two grades under your actual grade level...

Sorry, just thought I'd join the conversation blush.gif

Yes, because if you were grade 4 standard and you could sight read grade 5 pieces well, then surely you would be grade 5 standard because you could play the grade 5 pieces?

Or maybe not because you wouldn't be playing the grade 5 pieces to the standard you would be playing the grade 4 pieces.

Whoops, I've gone and confused myself now! laugh.gif

There's just been a little promotional thing on BBC1 saying to contact the BBC Trust if you want to comment on the programming of BBC1, BBC2 or BBC4.

What do you do if you want to comment on BBC3? blink.gif

Little thing my daughter said made me smile and I thought I'd share it.

Remember my Rat playing Sax profile pic? Well I have it as my desktop background and my daughter happened to comment the other day "That's Ratatounie" I corrected "You mean Ratatouille?" "No!" she said " Rat-a-Tunie!! Cos it's a rat and it's playing a saxophone so it's Ratatunie!" laugh.gif Made me smile anyway biggrin.gif

I have an incredibly inappropriate crush on my tutor... ph34r.gif

My friend sounded very worried when I reported this, I had to reassure her that I was happy to just worship from afar and I wasn't going to get myself chucked out of uni!

Any tiny skinny bony people here? How cold is too cold? It's nearly my birthday, and I haven't had a party for two years (well. that I've organised, last year my amazing friends threw me a surprise one, I had no idea blush.gif ). So this year I WILL have one, I've decided.

Anywho, I think sleepovers are always good, but I have 15 people I'd want to invite... and my grandparents have offered to let me use their playroom! It's like an extension to the house, so we can make as much noise as we want without disturbing my grandparents/parents.

BUT it gets very cold there in the winter, and although it has radiators, it has a concrete floor with a thin carpet, and big thin windows. We're not sure if it'll be too cold for all my friends unsure.gif My family and I don't really get cold, because we're built quite big, and are a bit more padded than most laugh.gif

If we told them all to bring a hot water bottle, and a sleeping bag, and a quilt, and pillows, and tracksuit bottoms to put over their pyjamas, and thick socks, and a dressing gown, etc etc would that be ok? I could probably also get lots of those handwarmers from the local ski shop too.

Should be fine, honestly even freezing cold houses are usually warm during parties, with that much body-heat. I'm not tiny/skinny/bony, I'm average or big, but somehow I do get cold as easily as my skinny friends (bad circulation?) but I've always been boiling at parties of that many people. smile.gif

Tell your friends to bring stuff to keep them warm as if they were camping outside and leave it up to them to use their common sense and bring enough warm stuff. I'm pretty skinny and generally feel the cold more than most but survived perfectly well in a tent on a frosty night in the middle of November a couple of years ago.

Cool beans biggrin.gif I would just hate it if I'm as snug as a bug and all happy, while one of my friends is shivering and gets hypothermia unsure.gif . Knowing me I'll probably be rushing around feeling everyone's hands to make sure they're not too cold rolleyes.gif
Crotchetymum
It sounds as though it'll be great fun and you'll all be as snug as bugs in rugs smile.gif If there are any who are worried about being cold, remind them to bring hats to wear once they're snuggled down (beanies or similar, not sombreros biggrin.gif) as that can make a huge difference.

And sleeping mats to go under the sleeping bags, if the floor is a bit hard and cold smile.gif

Bobziekins - that party sounds like it would be fantastic! Generally people who get really cold would bring lots of layers anyway, so if you just remind them I'm sure nobody would forget! smile.gif (I'm one of those teeny people and I live in hoodies and ugg boots at my boarding school in the evenings!) Have a great time biggrin.gif
bobziekins
Thanks everyone! biggrin.gif
I'll put on the invite things about bringing lots and lots of layers if they know they get cold, and will probably take an "emergency" box, filled with woolly jumpers happy.gif

Now, what should we do at the party, hmmmm. Has anyone had any brilliant sleepover parties? (Not using alcohol, of course wink.gif ) Any suggestions? You guys are all so helpful on here, it's like having a big community of clever musical people on hand 24/7. Hahaha, I'm probably irritating the lot of you with all my impertinent posts.

I am always amazed that many people cannot say 'fifth' properly, and 'sixth' even worse. Yes even TV presenters ! They diminish them into 'fith and 'sickth' (oops I guess thats an augmentation)
