I was wondering earlier, and I think someone on here whould be able to answer, if you have a concerto, eg. for clarinet, do you have a clarinet in the orchestra too. I would assume that you wouldn't and the only clarinet would be the soloist, but it's been puzzling me all day.

Thank you everyone who answered this question. I've learned something new!

Seeing the "round the world in 80 days" brought back memories of when my OH took a teddy bear from my son's primary school to Azerbaijan (the bear travelled with parents around the world if they went on business trips to try to bring Geography to life).

Going through customs the officials were a bit suspicious and were threatening to bayonet the bear thinking that he contained drugs or some contraband. My OH was very worried about how he'd explain a disembowelled bear to a class of 8 year olds, let alone the school. laugh.gif

I saw a van driver get out of his van this morning to shout at some boys who had run in front of him - and when I say shouted, I mean he pinned them against the wall and yelled abuse into their faces. I reported him to his employer and now I feel guilty.

Why do I feel guilty when other people behave badly?

I have 2 grape vines on my pergola, one white and one black but they have seeds! So I end up with hundreds and hundreds of bunches of grapes, that are surprisingly sweet enough to eat but we dont because we end up with a mouthful of seeds!

Such a waste. Mind you this year we made juice and it was delicious, but still to many grapes to make juice with!!!!

On the subject of tomatoes, to those who dislike them - does it matter whether they're cooked or not?
I can't stand un-cooked tomatoes of any sort, whole cooked tomatoes or some sun-dried tomatoes, but I love anything with tomato sauces or tinned tomatoes in. Just wondering whether that's just me being strange? rolleyes.gif

My daughter loves uncooked tomatoes (will eat a whole punnet of cherry tomatoes at one go) but hates cooked unless they have been processed out of all recognition (pizza topping, ketchup).

I really really don't like uncooked at all. They're all seedy, and the smell is disgusting ill.gif

My guinea pig used to love tomatoes, they were her favourite, and whenever I see them, all I can remember is her shoving her nose in, then getting a watery red beard and spilling seeds and pulp all down her front. Hmm.

Me too, especially vine ripened tomatoes on the brink of being over-ripe in a sandwich with fresh wholemeal bread, mature chedar cheese, little gem lettuce and a few slices of cucumber, maybe just a hint of finely sliced spring onion too (and no, it's not just a cheese salad sandwich, it's a Tsax cheese salad sandwich!).
