I've just received an email telling me that my reserve place at Birmingham Conservatoire has become guaranteed, but in the intervening time between auditioning and now, I've become less and less whether a conservatoire or a university is more right for me... this is going to be a hard decision unsure.gif

Great news, Devil_Fiddler! It may be a hard decision, but it's nice to have to make a decision rather than having no option.

Make sure you think through the pros and cons very carefully, and don't be afraid to ask the advice of those you trust. Then imagine yourself at conservatoire - what it would be like, whether you would regret not going to uni, etc. Then imagine yourself at a university. I think your heart will tell you what feels right.

Best of luck with your decision! smile.gif

Thanks smile.gif You're right, it's not really a decision I mind making; I think I'd be really happy at both smile.gif I think I'll probably choose Birmingham, but I don't need to make a decision just yet, so I've got time to think about it and weigh it up smile.gif

You finish the weekly wash and there's always a sock lying at the bottom of the drum.

You finish the washing-up and there's always a spoon languishing at the bottom of the washing-up bowl.

How many pencils are out there, having fallen irretrievably into the workings of a piano? unsure.gif

I used to know people who could never find a pair of socks when they come out of the wash, so put each sock into the drawer individually and then picked two out at random every day! laugh.gif

Last year my other half went with me to visit family in Asia. After he left, my mum said she'd found one of his socks.

This year when I went back to visit (without him), she still had the sock, so I was able to reunite the sock with its twin.

I suppose it goes some way towards redressing the balance of all the other missing socks.. I actually keep a separate basket for odd socks. Of course, that just means I now have ten odd socks.

No definite limit, although I'm sure your bank could put a limit on depending on the Ts&Cs of your account. I paid for a car using my debit card (there was a charge for credit cards, not for debit cards). In order to do this I a) made sure there was enough money in my account; and b) rang the bank in advance to tell them I would be making the purchase. I don't know if ringing them was any use, but the payment did go through without query and the garage told me that very often they have to go through an extended security procedure for such large sums.

Oh it won't be anywhere near the amount for a new car smile.gif I'd say it would be about 1500 to 2000 and there is definitely sufficient funds available. That's a good idea about ringing the bank first though....

I recently paid for a new Volvo S40 for Mrs. (approx £14000 balance) on a debit card, having ensured the funds were in the account.
The dealer said this was the best way as I could pay for the car and collect it at the same time. Other wise we would have had to send a cheque in advance and waited for it to clear

This afternoon's Edexcel GCSE Non-calculator Maths Paper (Higher) seemed OK, a fairly standard paper. smile.gif

Now, I could be totally wrong here: but Lucozade is an isotonic drink so it has the same water potential as your body tissues. I think the idea with that is for the person to drink it to rehydrate them, in a way which doesn't affect the balance of salts / mineral ions in the body tissues, but increases the amount of fluid. Maybe laugh.gif
