I've just noticed someone in the kitchen at work making porridge with salt in it. Now I knew that was a Scottish thing, but I'd forgotten about it. I usually have my porridge with honey or maple syrup, but sometimes I'd really rather have savoury than sweet. Which has got me thinking - what would porridge be like with a spoonful of Marmite stirred in? I might have to try it at the weekend!

If the Marmite cereal bars are anything to go by, don't try it. They were weird (but not in a good way

).

When we were children and if my mum was ill and my dad was doing the cooking, he used to put salt in porridge. Personally I didnt like it.
Dont think I`d be brave enough to try marmite.

Marmite belongs on toast to dip your eggy soldiers in. But then again asparagas is nice for that too.

I'll let you know how it goes!
In a bid to reduce my daily calorie intake I've been eating fruit and yoghurt at lunchtime instead of sandwiches. A bowl of porridge at breakfast is also part of the plan, but I'm getting tired of the sweetness of it all until my evening meal. I'm craving savoury, and Marmite is nothing if not savoury.

I know what you mean about savoury foods. If there is a table full of food, I will always go for the savoury stuff first. I`ve been like it since I was a small child. Because I am not fond of puddings and sweets, I have little interest in them. My family have been served some `very` strange puddings , over the years. I can make a `mean` cake though, but am seldom tempted to eat them.
To me, sugary things leave an after taste that lingers.

I spent too much money buying a skirt online, and felt very guilty as I couldn't afford it. Now I've got it and it makes me look three sizes bigger, and like I'm going to an interview, so I'm sending it back. I can't decide whether to be happy I'm getting my money back or sad that a lot of my projected autumn outfits will no longer work...
Probably I'll go with happy, since I'll get my money back and I know I'm not even missing out on a gorgeous skirt or anything...
