We spent all day Saturday arranging how to keep our three cats in while we went out for a meal in the evening. Two were no problem but the third is very independant and as we love her to bits we wanted her in before we went out. Nights out can be dangerous for cats here.
Off to the supermarket to buy prawns. Home to shell them and cut them into small pieces. The supermarket didn't have any already shelled. When we got home we gave her one to let her know we did actually have prawns. That meant she would stay near the house and come in early. It worked. We locked the cat flap and gave her a plateful. We slipped out of the door while she ate.
In the car I said "Well, thank goodness we don't have to think about prawns again today."
When we got to the restaurant the most beautiful pure white long haired cat greeted us at the same time as the waitress. We cooed as only cat loving idiots can. "Oh' said the waitress "He"s just waiting for his prawns."

I'll file this for future reference. Our cat is just being allowed out now for about 30 mins before dinner. So far she's only come inside once without being picked up and plonked in front of her food. This was the same cat that had been starving only 10 mins earlier.
Like you we don't really want her out overnight but will be giving her more freedom after her cat flap is fitted in Thurs.

The honey jar in my cupboard says on the lid "best before 15 December 2011".
Is this a bit odd? How can they be that exact over a gap of 14 months?
And isn't it a bit barmy anyway? I mean, they found honey in the pyramids that was 5000 years old and not decayed at all, so what's going to happen in 14 months?
Although I suppose it doesn't matter really - we'll have eaten it long before December 2011.

It's not so much that it's stronger, it's more like it's a deeper, richer more rounded taste. I think there is still very much a place for ordinary Marmite which has a bit more bite - XO is more a special occasion version.

Well I suppose that when it's bottled, it's no longer free flowing and hence becomes stale what with lack of constant oxygenation and also build up of bacteria...?

Funny how we love order in things. My lovely father-in-law (sadly no longer with us) always loved the fact that his date of birth was 22/3/22. The symmetry appeals somehow.

Is it blue and green must never be seen? I have heard a different colour on that one each time! The blue and black thing - I don't know where it came from... My friend the other day told me I shouldn't be wearing my bright blue tights with black boots, because you can't wear blue and black, just like you can't wear gold and silver - I have to learn new rules each day!
