How did they decide on the order of keys on a QWERTY keyboard and is it standard throughout Europe? huh.gif

French keyboards are AZERTY.
I touchtype and it takes me a couple of days to get used to the keyboard when I swap countries. The most annoying things I find are:
A/Q are inverted
M is in a different place
French keyboards only have a full stop in upper case (in lower case you get a semi-colon)
French keyboards have numbers in upper case (lower case has accents, brackets, apostrophe etc.)

Well... i was at work tonight.... and two friends i knew from the other pub i worked at came in... They asked me how i was enjoying it etc.... then one asked if we had 'cellar buoys'... my answer was to say that the manager and bar manager were the only 'cellar boys' we have....

I've just looked up 'cellar buoys'.... no wonder he laughed so much!!!

I don't have a very musical family, so there's no one I can really talk to about how I feel about music or ask advice. When I come on here it's like having an extended Musical family, people who know what you are talking about and where you are coming from. It's a place where you can recieve great advice and also give it back too. I suppose I never really appreciated the impact these forums had on me until finding out the awful news about Clavicembalo. It makes you realise what the forums and the people in it mean to you. I enjoy seeing the familiar names and not so familiar names and enjoy reading peoples posts. I'm glad I came across these forums a few years back smile.gif

Nice posts! I wish I'd had the forums when I was growing up. I agree it's a bit like having an extended family.

I bet the AB had no idea what they were starting up in the beginning!

This afternoon I have started The Job of Sorting Out Sheet Music. ph34r.gif
The situation was getting critical, so I have started the job to start making it more suitable again. It is overwhelming and physically hard work. Still, hopefully the end result will be worth this backache and brainache.
I'm surrounded by piles of music on tables, on the chairs, boxes, crates, and a never ending supply of descant recorders which keep appearing... blink.gif

Sorry to hear that, Bev. It does hurt a lot when friends go, but we are really lucky to live in an age when it's a relatively rare occurrence for people to die early. It always brings me up short looking at the age of death of so many composers, poets, etc - Mozart, Schumann, Keats, to name a few.

Hope you will soon be able to feel grateful for the time you had with your friend, rather than upset about the time you didn't. thereThere.gif
