I'm still in the concert! laugh.gif biggrin.gif I went away for a week and half, thinking I'd missed it and came back to "we've had to move the concert to next Saturday - are you still interested in your solo?" rolleyes.gif

I suppose I needn't have worried at all... though on Saturday I'll be terrified out of my mind, and wishing I was back in the smelly little hovel again. laugh.gif

Just thought I'd update, because a lot of people were very supportive about the whole thing. smile.gif

That's brilliant, Lucy! What fantastic news! I hope it goes really well for you - remember to thoroughly enjoy yourself when you perform, and then the audience will love it. They won't be looking for the same things as your grade 5 examiner - they'll just want enthusiasm and performance, and the odd bit of off intonation, or an extra breath here and there will pass unnoticed.

(I don't mean you shouldn't bother about those aspects, just don't get too scared about getting everything right; it's the performance that matters.)

Very best of luck for Saturday, and do let us know how it goes.

Thank you! I'll do my best, though when I practised it in front of people I was really nervous, and didn't have the confidence or performance I wanted - but it'll be alright on the night! biggrin.gif (I hope.)

Thank you! I did the concert tonight, and I think it went ok... I can't really remember my solo - I tend to forget things like that straight afterwards, but everyone congratulated me and said it was good. (They would maybe have said that anyway though...)

I also did a verse from Oom Pah Pah... which went fantastically, except for one tiny problem - I did the last verse ("she was from the country...") and two of the loudest tenors forgot about it, so they were trying to sing the chorus over the top... It's ok though, I just started laughing a bit, and glared at them and they shut up... So people congratulated me on my ability to keep singing when things go wrong. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

My friend did the video, and promised to send me it first, so I'll see how my solo actually did go! biggrin.gif

Had lots of fun!
