Hi,
I have a new piece to learn and have been playing it however it sounds completely wrong and I would love to hear somebody play it who knows what they are doing to have something to compare to.
The piece is called Sicilienne by Maria Theresia von Paradis and the book it is in (in my case) is Time Pieces for Flute Volume 3.
Please if anybody out there would be willing to record themselves playing it I would love to hear it.
Please pm me, I don't care how good or bad you are! Please help me!
Thanks

I've got that book too, and the bits of that piece that I've played sound lovely.

This is the most STUNNING piece.....
Although hearing it played may help, you are far more likely to make the piece "your own" by working it out the hard way...I'm assuming you have a teacher to help?

Ah - whenever Piers Adams plays this piece on the recorder, I can't help crying...just a sublime experience...

Ah, yes, so does HI - he was so smitten when he first heard it that he plays it by ear at lots of funerals...

I've only heard it on Cello and Violin. Loved it on cello but hated it on violin.
What instrument was it originally written for?

I think it was originally for flute actually. If I've dredged this up from the back of my mind correctly, then Maria Theresa von Paradis was a blind Parisien who set up a special school for the blind in Paris. She wrote this piece for Mozart for a birthday present. Anyway, don't swear by this, as it is something which I just happen to have remembered and could well apply to a completely different piece!
