Wednesday 14th November - why don't they give you the date earlier??!!

A bit more practising to do than usual methinks biggrin.gif

I am actually thinking i'm gonna fail at this point.

Anyone else doing Grade 8 this season?
Please someone tell me that you're dreading it too? To make me feel better?

Good luck!

Getting the date through always made me panic a bit at first no matter how well prepared I was!

I think it's just the realisation that's it's actually happening happy.gif

For my Grade 5, i got the date pretty late. it was on march 1st, when my teacher had asked for a later slot. AND this was the day after a week-long skiing holiday, with no piano!! I managed to get a merit for that exam, so i'm sure you'll be fine (assuming you're not planning on taking the next couple of weeks off).

Hi!!! My Grade 8 piano is on the 21st of November eeeek!!! I'm totally stressed and think i am going to fail too!How are your scales? Which pieces are you playing? I'm doing the Soler,Clementi and Poulenc!!!
DomTre
My scales are not bad actually, i just have problems with staccato, because either it sounds too loud when it comes out or it doesn't come out at all!!! But the rest are fine.

I'm doing Bach Prelude and Fugue, Mozart sonata and Martinu "Puppet Dance", but there is still stuff wrong with all of them!!!! and my teacher keeps tearing them apart every lesson now and....and.... unsure.gif

Well I know its for the best but I really feel I can't do them!
I'm just hoping that the old "bad rehearsal / good performance" comes true!!

It's just gonna be piano.gif again and again and again for the next few weeks.

But I also have my Grade 5 Alto Sax on the Friday i think!!! And its just all a bit of a mess, and i'm getting way too stressed.

*breathes out* Rant over lol.

Relax, DomTre, it will all be fine!

The good thing about the Bach is that it's relatively short, so you don't have to concentrate for too long; and although the fugue is quite difficult, the prelude is straightforward so should help you get the feel of the piano.

Very best of luck for the 14th. Show them what you're made of! tongue.gif
DomTre
Thanks, BerkshireMum biggrin.gif

Just lots of practise needed, but i don't know when to try and fit it in with school and other commitments!!

Good grief! At this rate they'll be doing mock GCSEs at the end of year 10 in a few more years! Ten years ago they were just after February half-term; when my daughter took them 7 years ago they were just after the Christmas holiday; Two years ago when son took them they'd crept back to the first week in December...

Not surprised you're stressed, but don't worry too much about the mocks; just use them to find out which bits of the work you're least sure of - you still have 6 months before GCSEs. Best of luck with grade 8!

I quite like all the pieces you both are playing! Fantastic choices! laugh.gif (The clementi surprised me as being rather more fun compared to those like his Sonatina in C)

I also love the poulenc toccata! I'm planning to learn that after my ATCL at the end of this month.

Good luck to both of you! smile.gif
