HI,

Has anyone seen/played the Azumi 3000 ? If so do they come with any footjoint rollers to aid the C or B foot keys ?

doesnt look like it visit the azumi website they have pikkys of the 2000 and 3000 series

I played the azumi 3000 when I was in topwind the other day. It just had a C foot and was just like a normal footjoint - ie, the low C was a roller but there was no D# roller.

Many thanks - I had a look at the pictures originally on the Azumi website but wasn't too sure as the pictures weren't close enough for me (or maybe I jsut don't know enough about footjoints to spot it at that resolution!).

Malone - any thoughts on the Azumi 3000 from your try out ?

I didn't think it was anything special really. But I was comparing it to my own pearl. I wasn't that interested in it anyway so I didnt think much about it at the time. For an all solid flute with a professional head by altus it was a very good price. The tone was quite rich and warm according to my mum who sat a listened.

I suppose these days you really are getting what you pay for with some variation. Other web reviews etc basically that Azumi are good for the money you pay compared with other flutes at the same price, but still not as good as the lower end "proper" manufacturer's flutes (Miyazawa, Muramatsu, Altus etc).

On the other hand, its nice to know its not a complete lemon.....

It's anything but a lemon, Richard. Whilst I preferred the 2000, as did Bagpuss, who helped me try them out, the Azumi is a superb flute for the money, and knocks spots off the Yamaha 311, in my opinion. I was testing student flutes at the time, so didn't do a direct comparison with the Miyazawa 101 and the Altus 807, but it's not in the same price bracket as those and therefore one wouldn't really expect it to compete.

I personally would recommend Altus any day, especially if your budget can take the strain, I love em itwas love at first sound and as the sound is in the head, and azumi are altus then you cant go far wrong.

I second everything andante's just posted. It's a great little flute within its place in the market.

Ah well, it looks like my list of flutes to try out is getting longer. At some point in the new year I'll have to book myself a day to get down to Justflutes, Allflutesplus and Topwind ...... although I'll need to get through Gr 5 in spring first as a self-made target!

I agree it is a good flute, having tried it out on 3 separate occasions now. At first I wasn't too happy with the mechanism, but obviously its hard to appreciate the flute without trying it out with other flutes in that price range. Trying the azumi alongside my Powell + Lafin combination obviously wasn't a good idea!

Worth a try, and many flute teachers will recommend it!

Well, I say I want to upgrade and the 3000 is on my list..I currently play a Yamaha 211 but with a silver EC headjoint.

So far I have few complaints as the EC is much richer than the stick Yamaha plated CY Headjoint - so, you never know, I might spend a day or so trying all these midrange flutes and decide I'm still more suited to what I already have - at least I'll know for sure rather than just wondering !

I realised today it was the 1000 I preferred over the 2000; don't think I tried the 3000. A young pupil of mine has just got a 1000, and brought it to her lesson today. It is a fantastic flute for the money.

After a year of teaching her, I heard her volunteer something that wasn't an answer to a direct question for only the second time. It was, 'I've got a new flute'.
