I've just gotten back from a piano lesson where one of the young lads who comes after me arrived in a halloween costume! laugh.gif Full skeleton outfit he was in! Anyones else pupils ever arrived in full halloween attire, or has anyone gone to a lesson dressed like this?!

Last year a 6 year old pupil came to me before a Halloween party dressed in a cat costume.

Her tail was swinging below the piano stool and my dog kept trying to catch it laugh.gif

I do remember the time I had a viola lesson on Halloween... Needless to say, not a huge amount of work was got through that lesson! But then, my viola lessons can be rather casual...

My son once went for a violin lesson dressed as a bat. He did change when he got there.

My two students tonight weren't in costume.
With the 10 year old we played spooky tunes and did spooky improvisation.

My little 7 year old pupil arrived for her lesson tonight in a devil costume, complete with horns. We did a Ghost piece a couple of weeks ago in preparation for Hallowe'en, and I did a couple of spooky pieces with pupils yesterday in school. Can't find any simple Firework night pieces though.

If you've not done it with some of your students before thewn I think that holding down low notes silently then playing loud staccato notes high up and letting the harmonics ring out is a bit like a firework display.

No-one was in dress-ups today - my children were, and showed their costumes to the interested ones ! I've had one lad arrive in the past in full devil gear complete with trident.

Today in my teaching room I had a flying bat with red lit up eyes flying round at the start of lesson (we turned him off after we got started as he was rather distracting), a spider hand puppet demonstrating curly fingers and a skeleton beanie baby on the piano. We did lots of spooky improvising and everyone had a treat from the basket which I had ready for the hordes of trick and treaters who came through the evening. Great fun !

Only ONE trick - my friend's lad did a head over heels for me, but that was it !
