hi everyone,

after getting my ltcl, my teacher thinks I should go for LRSM since we're aiming to enter for an abrsm scholarship, but the thing is I just found out that ftcl has no age requirements (previously i thought it was 21) for music performance so i'm tossing up asking if I should try for the ftcl. so i'm just wondering how old you were when you completed your ftcl and is it worthwhile? also any comments on ftcl vs lrsm would be appreciated (other than the fact that one's a fellowship and the other a licentiate lol)

thanks

How old are you?

Congratulations on your Ltcl smile.gif

I'd go for the LRSM..I think alot of others will agree...FTCL requires alot of musical maturity, and what's the rush?

true, just wanted to see which one was more worthwhile to work towards

My own experience tells me that the AB examiners are tougher than the TCL examiners when it comes to diploma exams, but others may disagree. Even if my view is wrong, given music_student's young age, the FTCL exam might be less difficult than the LRSM exam because the written component is not as rigorous. If s/he is a keen performer, perhaps s/he could go for the FTCL first, then try the FRSM later.
