unsure.gif Hi I am an adult learning living in West London, would love to get together with other adult learners. I did my first festival yesterday and nerves took over and the piece fell apart. So I was hoping to meet up with similar people in similar positions. Nervous to play in front of others but if we got together we could possible overcome this.

I played Willie Wagglestick's Walkabout - Grade 7. I can play it fine in front of my teacher and my husband but not in front of others.

Have a look at this topic.
The adult learners concerts have been a good place for people to meet and some have made friends and now meet to share music making on a regular basis.

And if you want to know more about what happens at adult learner concerts, have a look at the Forum Concerts and Other Events thread. Hope to meet you at Teddington smile.gif

Hello 'edgeledge' (nice nick name!)
I live in south london and am about grade 2.5 only (aiming to be grade 3 by march next year maybe? piano as well by the way)
I am quite busy in my life but 'occasionally' might be able to meet up.
like skylark suggested though, DO look up the adult learner concert coming up in Teddington on 2nd of Feb, it will a great chance to play in front of other learners who will understand how nervous you are and to meet many others with many things in common! I will be there too smile.gif

Hi There

I'm in West London and am Grade 6 guitar. I don't yet have the confidence to play even in an Adult Learner's concert though hopefully one day I may. I could probably play in a concert if everyone was asked to put on a blind fold and stuff earplugs in.

Anyway, if you'd like to meet up then pm me.

All the best.

Gwu, perhaps if you can do a duet for the concert, it may be less nerve wrecking?

Thanks for the suggestion MFort. Humm, a duet only halves the attention - I need an orchestra in front of me!

I will definitely try to play at an Adult Learner's concert one day, perhaps when I've completed all the exams, as a new type of goal and focus.
