Thank you so much for a helpful and supportive set of posts, Mr B.
I'd have liked to think that you actually had something useful to contribute to this thread. BUt yet again I'm wrong, aren't I?
Actually I am very supportive, but as anyone can tell you who knows me well, I can't resist the gag at the end of the sincerity. It's just my way!

QUOTE(barry-clari @ Jan 18 2008, 09:38 PM)

I've sold a few tickets - but would like more forumites in particular to see if they can come along to some of the recitals, to support their forum friends: I haven't had much in the way of forumite ticket applications yet.
The mods are wondering whether to make a separate forum for forum events, and it might help to raise awareness of the recitals if they were to do this.

For those of you travelling to the recitals, here's a list of Tube engineering works on each day (nearest Tube to the church is Bermondsey, one stop east of London Bridge on the Jubilee Line...)
February 9th (katyjay) : the planned work on the Northern Line isn't now happening, so there should be no problems.
March 1st (andante and I) : No City branch of the Northern Line (via London Bridge), also no service on the Jubilee Line between North Greenwich and Stratford. If you're coming from the eastern end of the Central Line, change at Stratford for the DLR to Canary Wharf, where you can pick up the Jubilee Line to Bermondsey.
April 12th (nicki_flute, maggiemay) : No Victoria Line at all, but this shouldn't be a major problem.
May 10th (Deborah, Carl) : No Jubilee Line from Canary Wharf to Stratford, see March 1st for alternative routes from the eastern end of the Central Line. Also, no meaningful Victoria Line again.
June 14th (meerkat, jod) : Exactly the same as May 10th.

June the 14th should proove an interesting combination.
Meerkat is a true contralto, and I'm puting on a programme for "canary fanciers", but as yellow makes me looked jaundiced, I won't look like a Canary.

A great evening!! Wonderful programme with allsorts in it (well, it was a "Mixed Bag of Sweeties"!). Katyjay again showed not only can she sing, she brings real character into her performance - petulant daughter or aspiring sweetheart!
Thanks very much Katyjay, Barry-Clari and Cath, really enjoyed it! Great to see a few forum faces I've not seen in ages too.
Just sorry I'm going to miss March's but hopefully will be there for April.

Very happy with how the evening went.

Katyjay sang beautifully

, the accompanist accompanied beautifully

, I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and I learned how to make tea and coffee at speed!

Thanks must go too to all the audience (forum and non-forum) for their support, the church for being very good hosts, Fen for your lovely cakes (I've taken the rest home, and shall eat them

), and katyjay and andante_in_c for their general hard work and support in getting this venture going - it wouldn't have happened without you.

The next recital is in three weeks, on March 1st, and will feature andante_in_c fluting, and some obscure forumite called barry-clari clarinetting! Would love to see you there - tickets can be ordered in advance via the website at the top of the thread, or just turn up on the door on the day, and someone will sell you a ticket there!

Thank you everyone for the messages of support and good luck wishes, I'm sorry I haven't managed to get round to answering every text, e-mail and PM yet - yesterday was more than a little hectic.
I'm glad the folks who came enjoyed the recital, thanks for your nice comments.
Thanks to Andante-in-C who helped me a tremendous amount in the run up to the performance, and to Cath for accompanying me - and to Fen for help with the catering

But most of all, thank you ever so much to Barry, whose titanic efforts to set this series up and get it advertised made all the difference.
Thanks again

Katyjay
PS:
Do book your tickets for the next recital. Andante and Barry have some fantastic repertoire to share with you!
