Please, does anyone know why, with our certificates this year I received 3 little cellophane envelopes each containing a sort of brooch pin style? They are stuck on a little green card with ther ABRSM logo and the word "Congratulations".
We are having our certificate presentation tea party next Saturday and I don't know to whom I am supposed to give them. It doesn't correspond to the number of distinctions because we only got 2.

They sound like Music Medals - are they kind of star shaped with a little rectangle in one corner? Obviously if you haven't done any Music Medals they must have been sent in error!

No, they aren't star shaped. They are square. It does seem a bit of a mystery doesn't it? They've got a sort of bluey green background with a stave, bass clef, semiquaver rest and semiquaver on them in silver!

That sounds like the pins Christine gave us at the Woodford concert a couple of years ago.
Apart from that I can't shed any light on it.

So perhaps it's a sort of advertising gimmick. I think I'll give them to the three with the highest marks in scales!!

I received one of those at a regional high scorers concert a few years ago - they were given to the person with the highest exam score on each instrument/grade.

Thanks everyone. It seems I can decide whom to give them to as they don't appear to have any serious official meaning. As I said, I think I'll check the mark sheets and give them to the good scales brigade.
Thanks again.

Have you rung or e-mailed the board to ask?
David
Yes, I think we're all curious to know...

Well, no I haven't. My working hours and the hour's time difference make phoning the Board a major operation. I did ask my local rep in an email about various other things but she didn't reply to that question and it was she who sent them. I don't like to bother her again as I have already bothered her with another problem she has to sort for me and she is a very busy person. I now suspect she just had them lying around and thought my kids might like them. However next time I have to speak to her on the phone I will ask.
