Like it says it the title...
The idea makes me groan but I can't think how to say so politely to a pupil who loves it and who has an audition for secondary school coming up.
I admit it will show that he can count to 8 and he does play it well. On violin I should say. He has lots of other pieces he could show off his ability with...

'Although its a wonderful piece perhaps you would be better choosing something with a bit more variety for the audition' Maybe precede it by a discussion of what the panel will be looking for.

Maybe suggest that it might be better to choose something that was actually written for solo violin rather than an arrangement.

Oh THANKS, those ideas will help.
He can do a fabulous Drunkard's Song (Bartok, on the AB Grade 4 list) with shifts, classy vibrato and tempo changes so I'm nudging for that and something else that's slow and gorgeous, maybe the Baklanova Romance...
