Hello!

As some of you will know I narrowly missed my DipABRSM in piano performance in the summer. As this was the second time this has happened ( sad.gif) I decided to change tactic and try a teaching diploma with a different board next June. This other board has now released a new syllabus, which basically includes all of the music I used for my DipABRSM.

Would I be totally cracked to do both dips next summer? For the teachers one I will have to do scales (millions of them), sightreading and a viva about teaching. I passed my QS in the DipABRSM and accompany regularly so I would hope to get by on that section in the new dip. I could talk about teaching all day and am very happy to do all the research for the viva. And I should be practising my scales anyway ( ph34r.gif )

There are theory and aural sections, but as I have a music degree I hope to be exempt from them.

The repertoire part is the worry: I think I can rehash my Beethoven, Scarlatti sonatas and one of my Schumann Phastasiestucke for the teacher's dip, but would have to keep up my second Schumann and my Sculthorpe Night Pieces for the DipABRSM. The DipABRSM is likely to be a month after the teacher's dip.

The comment sheet for my failed exam in July basically suggests that I lacked strength and agility in parts and this was why I failed. But with lots of Hanon and scales I hope this will be fixed by summer.

The question, am I taking on too much and putting myself under too much pressure?

Thanks! (apologies for rambling...very tired!)
