I have been preparing one of my pupils for grade 8 piano recently and am planning to put him in for the exam in next Feburary/March time 2008. In his last lesson, he came to me (panicking) saying 'all my friends are taking their grade 8 now! and saying i wont be able to take it early next year with the pieces i am playing!'. I also panicked and so have resorted to here...

Are the pieces that he is learning (from Grade 8 piano ABRSM book 2007 - 2008), definately still able to be used next year? I'm not sure at which point they change the pieces for the next years editions but i am guessing that the 2007-08 book should still be fine!

The 2007/2008 syllabus is what it says.
Those pieces are valid for the whole of those 2 years plus the first session of 2009 if you are in the UK though I think there will be changes to scales and sight reading in 2009.
