Anyone just done G5 piano?
What scales did you get asked for - if you can remember!

I'd be interested to know the quantity and range of difficulty that's asked, although I realise that every examination will be different.

Good luck to you all too!

I did mine last summer and didin't feel I got asked very many scales... one white key major, one white key minor... then a black key major and minor... same for arps. One normal chromatic. One contrary and contrary chromatic.
I can remember thinking I wasn't asked the hard scales... so I think I had G major and Bb minor etc.

I've got the syllabus for the grade, but I was interested in which ones from that the examiners picked for those doing G5 this term.

I'm so impressed you remember biggrin.gif I did my G5 last summer and my teacher asked me to email her as soon as I got home to let her know how I got on. By the time I got home the whole exam was a blur (and I only live a 5 minute drive from the centre) I just had a vague recollection that I hadn't done anything absolutely terrible (except of course sight reading but we were expecting me to fail that anyway - which, incidentally I did).

I think it was just so traumatic that I have repressed the memory laugh.gif

ooops, sorry...

the examiners will often ask candidates to play in left hand (i got many left hand scales both minor and major)

and i'm still hate b-flat arpeggio till now, the examiner told me to play that and i played it so messily! ill.gif
by the way, still confused too, because the examiner didn't tell me to play contrary chromatic..
