Hello,

I am new to the forum, and wanted to enquire as to whether their are any flute teachers in the North Norfolk area. I have grade 5 flute, but haven't played seriously since I left school some 20 years ago and am now wishing to take it up again.

I have tried the usual avenues, my nearest music shops (which are in Norwich), Yellow pages and BT Businesses but they don’t seem to be able to help.

Any advice on where to look would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks, for taking the time to reply. Do you know if the contact details are fairly up to date? I wasn't able to find my local flute teacher who's listed on musictechers.co.uk in the BT phone book under the personal section or business and was a bit reluctant to ring. I suppose they may be ex-directory.

That'll depend on the individual teachers, and how well they keep everything up to date. My (London) Yellow Pages has very few music teachers listed in it. When you ring anyone on the list, don't be afraid to ask questions about their teaching/flute experience, and if you're not sure, don't be afraid to try someone else.

Best of luck in your search smile.gif

Other than to say that I agree with barry-clari (as is quite often the case...biggrin.gif) I'm afraid I don't have any ideas. Hello and welcome though! wave.gif

North Norfolk is beautiful, but I am a bit bias. Thank you for your welcome. I don't currently play in any groups, I'm probably not looking in the right places but haven't found any as yet, I haven't stretched my search as far as Norwich because it's a little bit trek, but if I'm honest most things are in Norfolk. Confidence is a bit of an issue too, I haven't played in front of anyone except my children in years unsure.gif

Is that someone quite close by, not too much travelling. That always makes things easier.

Hope it goes well.

I bet your children wouldn't wake up. Mine have always slept like logs once they have dropped off to sleep, so practising the piano has never been a problem.

So pleased to hear you have a teacher lined up for the New Year. It's lovely when the kids are a bit older and you can start thinking of yourself a bit again. smile.gif

Thanks, I agree, it’s nice to do something other than cook, clean and ferry kids about, I'm just hoping I can be disciplined enough to make time to practice and not use family commitments as an excuse.
