My son is grade 3 working towards grade 4 on violin. My daughter is around grade 6 on flute. Can anyone PLEASE recommend some music that they could play together when they are not fighting.

I have asked our violin teacher in the past but she is either too busy or too disgusted that my duaghter was playing Handel's arrival of the queen of Sheba and corrupted the way that such music was supposed to be played and heard.

Hi, Unmusical Parent, you don't have to break your mind looking for "specially" flute and violin duets. Search for violin duets which your son can play, and I'm sure his sister will be able to play it. There's a lot of music for two recorders which is easily playable by other two instruments with the same rank.

I hope they have a lot of fun! smile.gif

Or, as the range of the violin goes below that of the flute, look for flute duets which are simple enough for him to play on the violin. If you go for violin duets, either try to find ones where one part doesn't go below middle C, or have your daughter play up an octave as needed.

I would look for some flute duets as they will only go down to a 'C' and so are no problem to play on a violin whereas the flute may hit the problem of being a few notes short if trying to play violin music.
