I'm not a strings player, but this year for Secret Santa I pulled the name of one out of the hat - a girl I don't know too well who plays double bass. I made some subtle enquiries and discovered she enjoys playing jazz, but doesn't often get the chance to pick her own music as she's always doing exam pieces. I'm off to the music shop tomorrow, and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? I think she's a grade 6 standard player - but then I've also heard grade 3, so that's a bit confusing.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I should find some way to cheack her standard for sure first, then find out what's going. You could get some ideas of what collections are available from the syllabus.

Can't check her standard without giving too much away unfortunately. I got her "building jazz bass lines" for double bass, because it was the only one in the music shop. I hope that'll be ok.
