Well done Star, Can you tell us more about it? What are the criteria? How many were there? Were they all from higher grades? Were lots of instruments represented (any cellos)? How often do they hold them and where? Can anyone go along to listen and so on. I've never heard of them before.

Congratulations! What exam did you do and what was your mark?

Sounds like you had a good time.

Here in Calcutta, India, you have to get distinction in any of the Grades to play in the high scorers' concert. Everyone gets a lovely medal and there are also some special prizes. All Preparatory students get to play as well. Theory students who achieved a distinction also get a medal but they don't play.
It's really lovely to watch people play. Sometimes the performers are amazing and its inspiring just to watch them.

Hey.

Well there were about 8people from grade 1 to 4 and then from 5 to 8 there were about 4 in each catagory. There were all different types of instruments, string, piano, woodwind, brass and singing.

I was there for my grade 5 singing.

You have to get a high distinction to be considered for a place, I got 143 out of 150. There is one every year.

I never thought it was ever going to be possible for me to perform in one but I did and anyone who puts enough time into their instrument could well stand the chance of performing in one.

In Indonesia here, you only need to get distinction to perform...I got 130 in Gr 6 piano 2 years ago and performed in one. there were 45 people performing. But it was very very boring....Some pieces were repeated by 3 different performers!! (mostly the ones in Grade 1 and 2) biggrin.gif
