Hi Everyone. I passed my Grade 1 piano exam rather well. I am over the moon with this as I was nervous but managed to squash it down. I found it easier than flute as I couldn't drop the piano
Now to practise scales hands together
Thanks for all the encouragement you have given me.
Beverley.

Well I did pass rather well. Oh my face is so red. I'm going off line now to get the children some tea, and probably stop them from murdering each other. There are blood curdling screams from the lounge

Oh Gordon Bennet

It was 143.........OK, now you know.
It's the best mark I've had since my cycling proficiency test where I got 100% and a 50pvoucher from Halfords (bought some lights for the bike with that).
I am not used to high marks, I am/was a B on a good day person. Over the moon is putting it mildly.
Off to clean the house and have another go at those flamin' hands together scales.

That's a really brilliant result! :-)
You've set the bar incredibly high with this for your first exam. Doing so well takes the sort of hard work and attention to detail that, if coupled with extremely high expectations, can sap the fun out of things and that would be really sad. So, don't fall into the trap of thinking that because you've done so well once that you ought to be able to do even better next time, then better still the time after that - I don't think 150 for grade 8 is a sensible goal for anyone!
Enjoy celebrating your achievement, just don't put yourself under impossible pressure next time around. Scoring "only" 142 next time would be just as much a reason to celebrate, and would NOT mean you were "getting worse". ;-)
(I'm just aware that the sort of people with the musicality, work ethic and perfectionism that it takes to get that kind of mark are the most susceptible to putting themselves under way too much pressure to keep delivering at that level and it can be soul-destroying.)
Basically, when you score so highly on an exam, it means that you've left very little scope for improvement on your marks, so, sooner or later, you'll get a result that's lower than the previous one. When it happens, just try to see it as making room for future improvement. ;-)
Congrats again on a super result!
All best,
T.

Thank you everyone again for your good wishes. My teacher gave me my mark sheet and certificate today. I've started a new piece and my hands together scales are there albeit slowly. By the way, she isn't shy, so I'll tell you it's Ivories
