Hi I really hope someone can help me with this. I've just got the paperwork for the CTABRSM course and want to get going on the first written assignment. I'm trying to find out whether it has to be written as an academic essay, with the conventional structure, in the third person and with full Harvard referencing, or whether it's more informal, and written in first person without the formal referencing. The office seems to be already shut at the AB headquarters and I wanted to make a start over Christmas. There isn't a lot of time to do it.

Can anyone help please sad.gif

Hi

We're still here - so don't worry. If it's assignment number 1 then it's an exploration of your own teaching and so very much a personal reflection. If you subscribe to theories that you've come across in academic textbooks, then of course, do include them and reference these or any quote accordingly. Otherwise, it can be written in the first person, using examples from your own teaching experience.

See this page on our website for more information:

You should also have further notes in the pack that was sent to you upon enrollment, which will have more detailed advice on the written assignments.

Any more worries or queries, give the office a call and ask for Christine Morris (020 7636 5400) or drop me a PM.

Best wishes

I have just received my pack today and it mentions some online resources to help with the first assignment and observation. I have tried the office as well and couldn't get hold of anyone either. Has anyone seen the online help for the assignment as I want to start mine as well.

Looking forward to meeting all you other candidates in February.

Hi - are you doing the fast track course or the ordinary one? I'm doing the Bristol part time course. We're already on to the 2nd assignment - is that the one you mean, or the one about learning/teaching experiences to date?

Edit - just read your other post, so I guess you are doing the fast track. PM me if you want to know any more about the assignment. Sue

Hi. As somebody who completed the CT course back in 2004 I just wanted to say good luck to all of you who are about to embark on the latest course.

It really is a fabulous experience and one that I am sure will alter the direction of your teaching for life!

Well done and enjoy!
