Can anyone recommend a good jazzy piano book for a student. The student is currently preparing for Grade 1 but is an extremely fast learner so ideally it would be a book thats level progresses with her (shes 11).

Thanks

We've got the AB Jazz Piano from scratch book that someone on the Forum recommended. This is more of a tutor book so not sure if it's what you are looking for.

I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions for jazzy piano music as there are so many nice books to choose from. My pupil's current favourites are the Cool Piano series by Heather Hammond (book one or two would be ok for this level), Piano Time Jazz by Pauline Hall, On The Right Track book one by Mike McCornick (great book with optional CD backing although this series progresses very quickly - book 4 is about grades 6-8!), Finger Jogging Boogie by Stephen Duro, Really Easy Jazzin About by Pamela Wedgewood, and What Jazz n'Blues Can I Play Piano published by IMP (grades one, two and three in the same book).

Jazz Rags and Blues (probably first book) by Martha Mier
