Have been invited to a barbecue of all things. eek.gif What about you Miss Ross?
Well, that's different! party1.gif

I don't think I'm doing anything. I was invited to a friend's house but my dad doesn't want me to go. I'll probably just go to bed, as I have done on New Year's Eve ever since I can remember! sad.gif

Hope your dog's ok Daisy. sad.gif

No miss ross! Go to your friends house biggrin.gif

I suppose when you put it like that noodle...doesn't sound too appealing!

I don't know, but I really don't want to use the 'it's not fair' line! ph34r.gif

Well it's not fair! tongue.gif It's new years and you don't want to spend it in bed. It's not so bad if you are older and want to stay in but you are young and should be having fun innit wink.gif

We were going to walk up the road to the local Rugby Club for a meal until we found out that they are only doing food as part of the Caberet this year. Can't do that with the girls! Don't know if we will find anywhere else to go sad.gif
LooneyTunes
PARTY! party2.gif

And then recovering from party........ ph34r.gif
Choddy
Lots of alcoholic beverages
And lots of raving.
Oddball
Booze and raving sounds good...

...but this year I'm staying in with a few mates. All good.
BBTOTW
Going round to see a family friend smile.gif
captaintau
Going to Mrs Tau's best friend's place. She also plays in our band and also bought me the ABRSM grade 1 theory book for Christmas. Her boyfriend is deaf so we're all a great combination!
lottie
Going to a PARTY... within walking distance ... and I have a bottle of pink champagne with my name on it.....
Cyrilla
BAH. This Grumpy Old Woman and her sister Grumpy Old Bagpuss hate New Year and always have done so we'll probably both be in bed by 11pm.

Neither of us are too well at the moment either which is another reason to go to bed early!

sleep.gif sleep.gif
Malone
Going into the village for a good Ceilidh.
fiddle chick
throwing a New Year's eve party with "Lady and the Tramp" theme - girls dress up boys don't!!!
Happy New Year everyone!!! rockin.gif
petrat
For the first time since 1958 other half is not holding a party. (I haven't known him that long!) His son doesn't want one this year. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I love parties and all of the food preparation and i am very good at putting on mammoth spreads with whole poached salmon, turkey, beef and loads of salads, a vegetarian table and around twenty different puddings! We used to have over 200 guests! Great fun. Still, there is always next year. I'll bring some grub to the forum party instead. smile.gif

wow.... and i thought seven was a crowd!

tonight i am going to a friend with my family, and shall probably end up being thrown into the pool at midnight (my friend is very into fully-clothed-swimming). hopefully we might play a ferocious round of pictionary or two, or even twister.... no better way to see the new year in than with a couple of well-ripped tendons, i always say!
Rosemary7391
I'll probably be asleep, as I start work at 7 30 tomorrow morning..... Though I might stay up and do some cross stitch in bed or something. Nothing exciting!
maggiemay
200 - wow Petrat - you wouldn't like to do my birthday party next year would you. biggrin.gif

*thinks * yes, it is next year still.

Re tonight - I'm never very interested in new year to be honest. We do have a friend dropping in to have a drink - nothing ambitious.
singerpianist
I'm off to a restaurant called Ruccetta with my mum and dad tongue.gif I think there's going to be jazz and disco music on, so will probably end up dancing too!! laugh.gif

Hope everyone has a good evening biggrin.gif and all the best for '08!!

So, what's everyone doing for New Year this time around? party1.gif

Matthew and I are going for a meal at a restaurant in town - I don't feel like doing anything too outrageous this year! My Dad and brother are going to see my 2 favourite bands playing an outside gig in Inverness tonight though. ohmy.gif (Red Hot Chilli Pipers and the Peatbog Faeries) Jealous much?

Over to you!
katyjay
My customary detailed inspection of the insides of my eyelids. And probably a bit of snoring too....
Solari
I'm going out but I really shouldn't drink as I'm on call... sad.gif Could work in my favour though, you never know... Watching other people while they get hammered is often entertaining!

A night off the booze won't hurt anyway seeing as I've been off the wagon since Christmas eve...!

That's my philosophy too biggrin.gif I have a gig and agreed to be driver. Still a couple of red bulls and lucozade and I'm just as hyper as everybody else laugh.gif
Crotchetymum
Have a lovely meal, Celeste - don't think about the bands you're missing, but enjoy the company you're in smile.gif Edit - have a lovely time everyone else who posted while I was typing biggrin.gif

We're at home. Older son should be home in time for dinner, and younger son wants to see Rodrigo & Gabriela with Jools Holland on Beeb 2 tonight, which is fine by us. We've some fizz in the fridge, some good food cooking, and the fire's burning nicely. Just how I like it smile.gif
lucky045
I'm going out. I may drink quite a lot. I wasn't planning to, but it's freezing, I'm in a bad mood, and I'm stuck in my rubbish town where there are only three pubs - so it'll be packed. I think a good deal of archers/vodka may be the only thing that'll get me through.
Misterioso
F I R E W O R K S ! ! !

There's always a really good display just after midnight in the harbour.
Tortellini
No alcohol, no parties and no fireworks. Will probably fall asleep by ten. Still looking forward to it though!

We have our monthly Taize time in the church so playing and singing for that (it always falls on the last thursday of the month). Its beautiful and a nice way to start gearing up to 2010.. it's our lovely priest's last official working day in the parish before moving so he is having a few people round for glass of champagne. Then round to friend's place to officially see in new year... nothing too mad but looking forward to it..

Just cooked a 3 course dinner for my OH and his band mate who have been on road gigging for past 2 days. they happened to be in this part of the country en route for next leg of 2 gigs. He combined it with picking up clean clothes. It's our first New Years Eve apart as normally we are playing soewhere together so missing him a bit now wub.gif wub.gif (even tho they only left 10 mins ago.)

Looking forward to our unofficial new year celebration together in a couple of days when he gets home.. party1.gif wub.gif wub.gif

Nothing.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I loathe New Year and always have.

Humbug! Bah!

We're having some friends over and we'll be feeding them laugh.gif

on the menu...

Onion Soup
Feta and Tomato Filo Parcels with Vegetables, Salad and Roast Potatoes
Bailey's and Chocolate Cheesecake (not made by me, which is a shame as I like making puddings) laugh.gif
PianoGalway
David, you old romantic you...

Must admit tho... it would be a great way to see in new year... hope you get to do it for 2011 smile.gif
maggiemay
I always think it's a big let-down after Christmas, so I'll join the club!

We sometimes get together with a friend or two, but not a big group.
Nothing planned for this year.

They've just said on the BBC news that the Inverness celebrations have been cancelled due to poor weather sad.gif

Spending a quiet evening locked in with the cats as on previous New Years we have lost two. They are all inside now and as we are having fish tonight I expect they will join us in the kitchen!

Nothing special but our neigbours have invited us to lunch tomorrow which is very kind. We have been to the patisserie to buy them some of our gorgeous locally made chocolate. There I met one of my most delightful ex-pupils who is now studying (not music) in Paris. I hadn't seen her for ages - my goodness don't they grow up and change with the passing years - and tonight another year passes - oh dear! Lots of people in the street calling out "Bonne Année" to all and sundry. so ...Happy New Year to All!!

The Old Lady
I have got 18 adults,and 9 children from 7 to 17 around at 8pm ohmy.gif
One large pot of chilli is on the stove alongside a large pot of curry. There are 25 baking potatoes in the oven and 3 very large loaves of crusty bread with some salad on the side. The house is decorated , and Barry (not Clarri tongue.gif ) is "testing" out some old vinyl records from the 70s and 80s rolleyes.gif We also have bought some compilation CDs.
The folk coming are bringing puddings and a bottle. tongue.gif
We have Twister, a TV set up upstairs for the children to play X box on when they get too embarrassed by their Dad's dancing, party poppers for midnight, and fireworks for about 12.15.
Then when all are well oiled, a Queen CD for all to join in with Bohemien Rhapsody. party1.gif party1.gif party1.gif party1.gif party1.gif party1.gif party1.gif party1.gif

I feel so much better now I'm all dressed up. I had my hair done today, so it's properly blonde and straight and perfect in a way it would never be if I'd done it. I also dug out my black leather jacket, and my favourite black skirt, and got my mum to do my eye make-up (sad I know, but she's really good at the dark smoky eye effect).

I feel really good now. biggrin.gif

Mind you, it'll probably only last until I see the amazing outfit my three-stone-thinner friend has put together. tongue.gif rolleyes.gif

We don't go out any more because we can't bear to be away from the dogs late at night in case any local fireworks scare them. OH usually just goes to bed but I usually stay up because I love watching the fireworks (quietly) on television. New Years day we usually have a celebration meal with family or friends but we haven't organised anything this time blink.gif rolleyes.gif but everyone is pretty much snowed in here anyway!

We also have over a foot of snow so tomorrow we'll probably just walk the dogs and raid the fridge for yummy left-overs-from-christmas!

Today though I've been thinking back to all the New Year parties I went to when I was younger and I do have some wonderful memories. biggrin.gif

Does that all make me sound old? huh.gif blink.gif

Just about to walk round the corner to the in-laws. Nice meal, a few drinks and excellent company! party1.gif
maggiemay
We've opened a nice bottle of champers, I'm cooking a meal and we'll listen to some music.
Oh, and hope that ##?‚??º!!??¢# security alarm doesn't start up again.

I don't get excited about new year - it's just numbers after all. Hah bumhug as my daughter said last week!
music margaret
Supposed to be spending evening at neighbours, but husband (vet) is stuck at work heroicly attempting to save the life of one of our companion rabbits - guess I'll be playing single parent, again!
CJB
One CJB special lamb and chickpea curry is bubbling on the hob. A mixed fruit crumble is waiting to be baked. just MrB and me and no fuss. Round to his Mum's for lunch tomorrow.

I'm not a great fan of New Year's Eve but am very glad to see the end of 2009. Then again I said that last year so am a little anxious about 2010.
Aeolienne
I sent all my neighbours Christmas cards on the offchance that this might trigger an invitation to a new year party. Not a squeak, however. Didn't fancy paying £18.50 to hang around Exeter's Phoenix Arts Centre watching other people having a good time with their friends, so it'll be Jools Holland and/or the cast of Absolutely (I got the DVD box set for Xmas) tonight.
