hello again,

Please can anyone recommend any piano pieces/ Cds of this composer's piano music that will help me to become better aquainted with his style?

Thankyou
Robodoc
There are a couple of piano pieces on youtube. He also wrote the score for the film "Four weddings and a funeral" amongst others.

Try "Partridge Pie" by Richard Rodney Bennett. It's two books of piano pieces and they are based on the poem The 12 days of Christmas. I think one of them is set for Grade 6. I've got Book 1 and am especially fond of 6 geese a-laying. It's published by Novello, and the whole set has been recorded by RRB on "My Keyboard Friends" (Delos DE6002). Hope this helps. smile.gif

I bought my copy of the piano music only last year so it should still be easy to get; and if they've set it for Grade 6 it must still be available. I bought mine at my local music shop. Shame the CD isn't available - I got the details of it from the inside cover of my piano music, but don't actually have the CD.

What about the 'Diversions'? They were used in the old Guildhall exams, and I can't remember what was at which grade, but they were popular repertoire among the pupils.

I did one from the Partridge Pie book but I can't for the life of me remember what it was! I know it was in 7/8 - can anyone help?

That's the one, thanks! I've long since mis-laid this book.
