I've already asked this on woodwind.org but does anyone here know any good books with orchestral extracts, specifically clarinet but maybe books for other instruments will have corresponding clarinet books. I am hoping to audition for some 'extras' work with some of the professional orchestras. After talking to one of the trumpet players in the RSNO he said you really need to do orchestral extracts (show you can play the orchestral repertoire) not concertos, chamber music etc.
Any thoughts on professional auditions also welcome.

Trinity publish something called "Woodwind World - Clarinet Orchestral Extracts" which appears on their syllabus as a source from which the scales alternatives are taken at grades 6,7 & 8. Perhaps it gets a mention on their diploma syllabus too?

Is this the sort of thing you're looking for ...
Difficult-Passages-Clarinet-Orchestral-Extracts. I haven't actually used this book but have something similar for brass.

I think most of the orchestras tell you which extracts to play for the audition. If you look at the site called "musicalchairs" or "music chairs" or something like that, it has lots of job vacancies for Berlin Phil, Oslo Phil etc. with the list of extracts required at audition. The Oslo Phil one has a pdf file with all the extracts give so is a free source of music!!!
They nearly all want you to play the Mozart as well
good luck with your job search
