Hello I'm new to this forum! So a big hi to everyone biggrin.gif

I used to play the flute and I got up to grade 8 yay! But I haven't played in a few years and now really want to pick it up again. I was recommended by a nice flute teacher that maybe someone here could help me, I never knew such a cool forum existed!

So does anyone know of anywhere I can go in Hampshire (around Basingstoke would be lovely) where I could join a group of people who would allow a bit rusty flutist to play?

I've found that either the groups are for school ages or for professional players and I am neither.

Also does anyone have any tips and hints in how to get back into the routine of playing?

Thanks for reading I hope this is in the right place happy.gif

Have a great day!

Hi Giulia, and welcome to the Forums. A friend of mine plays flute in a band in Basingstoke, and she must have been around your standard when she joined. She's just taken a performance diploma, but had several years of lessons to work up to it. I'll see if I can get hold of her and get you some details. smile.gif

I know there is a flute choir in Dorking, which meets on Sundays once a month, but that's probably a little far away for you.

Have a look here - it's a list of amateur orchestras.

Have you tried the local library, or the central library? They may have a poster board, or a file listing all the local societies.

Not sure if this would be any good but it's a directory of wind bands around the country...
