Anyone know where i can find a recording of James Galway playing the Chaminade Concertino?
I know he has a CD with it on and if there's no other way to find a recording of it then i'll buy that, but i'm playing the Chaminade in a concert this week and want to improve upon when i played it in a different concert last week - in which i thought it lacked interpretation and musical variety etc. I was going to play a different piece - i don't like to repeat pieces in a short space of time but i'm determined to play it much better. I've heard his version is good (obviously - it's James Galway!) so i'd like to take some tips and ideas.

Talking of tips and ideas - if any of you have any on that piece, they'd be much appreciated smile.gif

I'm fairly sure you can download it on iTunes its also on a few of his CD's. He's also written some notes on it here. I find it rather difficult to even look at the sheet music for the Chaminade wacko.gif so I think I' better leave it at that.

Thanks - those notes are very useful biggrin.gif

"There are tons of scale passages in the Chaminade including many chromatic passages, which for me always require a lot of work to get it right. I am talking about evenness of fingering and perfect scales every time. I find the chromatic scales to be the most troublesome."

Oh i'm glad it's not just me who finds those chromatic scales in the middle section absolutely evil - but also James Galway laugh.gif
