What's made me happy? The fact that today is nearly over and tomorrow I shall be in Ireland!

1) Having a day with no teaching - and, for the second day, no other work-related stuff either

2) Having a great lunch with Bagpuss and two old friends with whom we met up again at the funeral of our dear friend Phil three weeks ago

3) LOVING the pub they suggested we meet at - quite a dive in lots of ways but loved it - and it was at a gorgeous location on the river near the Thames Barrier (which I'd never seen before ). Could have stood and looked at the river all day..such a quiet place that you would hardly know it existed..

4) Choosing two new felines with whom to share my home and life

I think I know the pub you mean. The beer actually isn't all that bad...




When are they coming to Cyrilla Towers? Or are they already there?

and I've only spent half an hour at the piano and have solved two of my irritating problems (er, two out of about 20374183592 remaining, it feels like, I hasten to add)

I'm going to bring them home to Cyrilla Towers next Tuesday :-). I could have had them now but I'm away for four days in Brum at the end of this week.

When I say "used to" I meant when I was a child, not until I read your post just now!

Bagpuss has just pointed out that all of this is a complete waste of time as these are CATS coming to live with me and therefore they will:

a) take one look at said articles and walk away in an aloof manner

b) start scratching my beautiful new purple sofa and chair

I second this. My cat's favourite sleeping places are

a) a Primark paper bag

b) The manky towel that she was bundled in when the nice Cats Protection people tried to get her into the cat carrier

c) Squashed up cardboard box from when I bought a hard disk

Nice red cat-sized tent got one week of use. Radiator cat bed might as well not exist. Not bothering to buy anything else.

she scratched the carpet instead of the nice new scratching post despite liberal application of catnip and valerian. At least that stopped once I let her outside, she prefers trees now.
