A pupil just auditioned for a grant for a new clarinet and the grant givers really liked her, told her she should be thinking about going to a conservatoire and that she was getting the most out of her instrument and definitely needed a new one!

She has just had an hour's lesson with me- so her mouth is probably dead now!

Lovely news, ClariNicki! May your pupil enjoy her new clarinet for many years to come. smile.gif

My cat doesn't like me and just sees me as a food dispenser! I just came home from school run to find this said cat cuddled up to my son. I walk in, she comes over to me and starts biting me, wanting food. She cuddles up to waiting parents when I'm teaching but NEVER sits on my lap! I think I've gone off cats!

I know. I am obliged to perform my humble devotions to the four present household deities several times a day. The dog, incidentally, tells me she is an atheist!

Haha - no, I missed that. Have had mentions from Rob C and Martin Handley before now.

Barry and Nickiflute may remember the Rotherhithe series - the day before mine, Rob played a recording of the Rotherhithe organ, and I e-mailed Breakfast to say ' thought that sound was familar - I'm giving a recital on that instrument tomorrow!' Rob sent back a lovely e-mail wishing me luck and said he'd think of me. Nice man : )

I finally invested in an iPod today! I said to the shop salesperson that I didn't want to be blinded by science / technology, that I was the kind of technophobe that even had trouble with my mobile phone, and did they have something straightforward / easy to use / foolproof that might be appropriate? huh.gif

They did. smile.gif

Just tested the first one, to make sure they aren't poisonous or anything, and it was still warm and very nice. Now I somehow need to leave the other five alone until my husband gets home (well, at least four of them...!)

edit: Four muffins. Not four husbands smile.gif

Two things today...

I decided to be brave and despite 34 years of absence from playing 'cello, and only one lesson so far, I attended the 'introductory' orchestra that is run near Chester - it's designed as a feeder to the main orchestra. Big age range from children to people certainly in their 60s. I didn't disgrace myself blink.gif and the conductor would like me to stay for main orchestra next week - but agrees a couple of the pieces will be beyond me (opening movement of Mozart 40 anyone? eek.gif ). Had a look at the music and some seems almost playable happy.gif .

Second thing was on returning from Chester was zooming to Gloucester for the forum event - I won't repeat post on that thread, suffice it to say, it was a good do woot.gif

You can see why Les Mis has run for 25 years : it has the works, happy bits, sad bits (yes, we were mopping tears off each other's faces : I defy anyone not to cry during 'On My Own' laugh.gif ) and some great songs.

Oh, and the clarinettist in the pit band has to double on tenor recorder : and she was using a plastic Yamaha tenor. There's hope for my recorder playing yet... laugh.gif
