Christmas shopping later biggrin.gif

Already got and written all my cards biggrin.gif

I never write my cards until after Advent Sunday, though I've bought them all. Doing them at the beginning of November would feel like writing postcards before I went on holiday! biggrin.gif

I refuse to do Christmas shopping until it is December this year.

We now have Christmas decorations up at work because it's the St Nicholas fair soon, but I am SERIOUSLY not impressed at being surrounded by tinsel in November.

Bah humbug. biggrin.gif

Don't have much of a choice, for me it's too late to do Christmas shopping in December.

Lou, this is me trying to embrace how disorganised I have become this year. biggrin.gif Secretly, I'm regretting not starting a few months ago. tongue.gif

Getting the shopping done early is a Good Thing. The crowds at Bluewater/Oxford Street, London/The Glades Bromley/Croydon at Christmas are not pleasant...

Last patient in this mornings' clinic is/was an organist, knows I play the organ (funny how these things get around!) and brought me a gift of a carrier bag of organ music, nice condition and just about my level.
He is very elderly and can't play it any more so was glad to find a willing recipient.

I don't suppose that was improper, was it? No one has reported me when patients have brought me flowers (happens occasionally).

Lucky you Mel . I cant see any reason why you shouldnt accept it. More stuff you have the merrier.

Got up, wandered down to the station, got the train to Liverpool Street.
Was briefly flummoxed by my inability to hire a Boris Bike, but it turns out the card associated with my key has expired. So did a 'casual use' hire and went off to Clerkenwell. Found the bookbinders, who were lovely.
Cycled to Museum of London. Had lunch, then a wander round the museum. Cycled back to Liverpool Street (not very far, but why walk when you can go on a Boris Bike? Especially as I was able to get one with a poppy on the front for journeys 2 and 3 [only some have had the front changed to a poppy, for a brief period]).

Home for an hour or so before off to music lesson smile.gif And Greenwich tomorrow (ohohoh, must write cheque for Egham...)

Quite flummoxed by your post initially, Cyrilla. Having worked as a lab technician my idea of a pooter is one of those sucky pipettes which you use to collect insects (or bugs, as our US friends would call them), and your post was so close to this idea that I thought for a moment that you had a problem with insects in the house! biggrin.gif

The thought of a whole day off tomorrow. I should be at Guildhall but have awarded myself a Day Off and have put a dep in.

It's Lord Mayor's Show Day which means it's a nightmare to drive into the City - have to be up before 5 in order to get in before 7am.

So I am having a glorious lie-in and then getting stuck in to the PILES of lesson planning and other stuff that has been growing, like the contents of The Magic Porridge Pot, on my desk... blink.gif .

I have to take the kittens to have their second vaccination in the afternoon but other than that I have a gorgeous naughty day off at home.

I've had a day off today, and instead of making inroads into the pile of stuff that needs doing I've just done things I wanted to do. I went shopping without really needing to buy anything, so no stress and mid-week not too busy. I did buy quite a blingy top that I might wear for my next gig, 'cause it's a Christmas one, and a fabulous but very practical hat. I've done no practice, none at all. And actually, I quite miss it. Will be back to normal tomorrow.

This weekend is the opening weekend of the London Jazz Festival, and I'm going to see David Sanborn on Tuesday night and Bob Mintzer on Wednesday - a saxtastic week to look forward to! Not only that but I'm only working on Tuesday next week and tonight I'm sat in front of the TV with a glass of chilled chablis.

Discovering new music I had never heard of before in a well known sheet music shop on my way home from work - Telemann 12 fantasias for violin without bass, i.e solo violin.

No prizes for guessing that I bought it.

New flute? biggrin.gif

We are considering our options (stuck in Croydon a fair bit at the moment so we can take our time.)
DD has fallen in love with a Pearl but I'm much more a kid in a candy store and can't make up my mind.
It will be another sharing flute - I can't really justify buying two (even if I could afford it) - but pre-dominantly Daughter's because the LEA are buying it so we don't have to pay VAT.

Also bought some Christmas music. xmas_tree.gif
