A tuba which I have accidentally acquired/bought. Not sure quite how it happened, but it is rather fun. biggrin.gif
Must make sure I do enough of my other wind instruments to keep embouchures going... such hardship!

My optician has that hanging in his consulation room!

Do you think he plays multiple instruments? I must ask him next visit.

On arriving in a bookshop in Ely the boys went into the children's section and started to browse whilst I started to hunt for a few last minute Pressies.

I was offered a cup of tea, and given lots of good suggestions.
It was Earl Grey served in a teapot.

Matthew and no2son endeared themselves to the staff as they both love reading.
The word 'cup of tea' was like music to my ears.

After I finally completed my Ely shopping, I found the garden centre had reduced the Christmas Trees. no2son helped choose, and Matthew helped lift it in from the car into the lounge.

I now have a Christmas tree that strangely reminds me of a bell tower in Pisa, but do I care...

Much better day than yesterday smile.gif smile.gif

I sounds like the sort of thing Flanders and Swann would do, either that the type of thing one would do after rather a lot of strong liquor...

I was tempted by a full sized violin in a second hand shop today...

No - there is an empty nest now (that was not empty during the summer) so I have sprayed it, and the other two empty nests with nasty stuff to keep them out. I was just waiting until the temperature got low enough that anything in there would be dead. I am going to hang up Waspinators (fake nests that prevent the real ones from nesting). I only sprayed the nasty stuff there to kill anything that may be hibernating, though I doubt there would be anything there.

That reminds me, was very happy the day my medic alert band arrived.

After two high speed dashes to A and E following Anaphylactic Reactions I now feel better given I am wearing something that tells those around me what is going on if and when I land on the ground at their feet.

What has made me happy today- knowing that the Christmas Cards are now hubby's problem!

Yeah, after the assault course that was the Kitchen (find the cake tin.... I've hidden the Lemon Zester guess which draw it is in?) Eventually, two weeks after I would have liked, the Christmas Cake is in the Oven.

No time to feed it. Will have to do.

So... unless the Marzipan, the apricot jam and the brandy is hidden, tomorrow I can cover the top with Marzipan. The On Friday, I can Ice it.

I'm sure some of the family will get their Christmas cards on time.

I can now spend some time doing fun things with wrapping paper and sticky tape... (This means I'm actually giving some presents!)

My last pupe of the term gave me a wrapped gift today. When I got home I saw it had written instructions to open it today. So I just have (all be it in fear and trepidation of the Curse of Santa). I am now the proud owner of a set of stickers that say :

"Flutes are shiny, ohhhh shiny"
"I'm an elephant - yay!" (that'll come in handy won't it?)
"Flutes should always be rested on shoulders" (as if little me would criticise a pupe for doing so.... rolleyes.gif )
"Scales are rubbish and should never be learned" (this pupe really SHOULD value its spleen more....)
"Rubber chickens are stretchy like pineapples" (well, another jolly useful one there then. This pupe regularly utters the word "pineapple" at random intervals during lessons....)

I really DID laugh when I opened them. I am actually quite touched as these are things we've laughed about in the course of the term and said pupe has had fun doing this for little me.

Faith in the Youth of Today happily restored.

2 things made me happy yesterday.

A couple of lovely PMs.

Singing the solo part of "The Three Kings" at a hastily arranged 9 Lessons. Had 30 minutes notice, but it's a piece I know well. A number of the congregation were kind enough to say how much they had enjoyed it.
