It's about midnight and I've just got back from playing in the most FABULOUS salsa concert. smile.gif

Despite missing entry for fl/ob/cl solo in one of the songs, it sounded really great. The public loved it and the invited lead singers (quite well-known folk here) really enjoyed it too and were very complimentary. biggrin.gif

Ah - nothing like a bit of anthropomorphic personification to make you feel better.

Nice car.

Lovely, P*P!!

Just had a great morning (3.5hrs) of holiday teaching....one of my most lovely & musical 7 year old piano students asked, with her Dad, if she could start violin as well smile.gif So instead of a piano lesson today we fitted her with a violin, the right size of which I just happened to have in the cupboard from a previous student. She was delighted to have a mini lesson and then walk away with a violin!

And of course, the other parents were delighted that I'd found a new home for their old violin. Happies all round biggrin.gif

My day just got better....been asked to play violin with a military orchestra whilst over in UK, for their conducting exams. First time in 18 years, I can't wait! tongue.gif

Yesterday I had some hours without hearing my tinitus and right now it isn't there either! I hope it will go on like this.

I pick up one book marked at original price 16 pounds, and one marked at original price 8 pounds. Went to the till, the 16 pound one was half price so was 8 pounds and was my "buy one", and the 8 pound one became the "get one free" smile.gif

Finally got round to looking it up...the "get one free" turns out to be on the FTCL and FRSM lists (a Vivaldi concerto - I wasn't expecting it to be something I would be playing immediately!) Still, at least it was free and having it on my shelf might impress someone tongue.gif laugh.gif

Looking at a very funny website. You know the current craze amongst posh blokes of wearing bright red trousers? (generally along with tweed jacket, brogues etc) - there's a website just with loads of photos of them proudly doing that. I know that doesn't sound funny, but it is... I can't type the exact name of the website as it has a naughty word (no naughty content though, I promise) but if you google 'look at my red trousers' you will find it. biggrin.gif

Hmmm - I wear tweed and brogues - not all the time! However, I draw the line at red chinos. biggrin.gif

You've no idea... Living in a rural area, tweed is de rigueur. However, in the chamber choir the secretary, librarian, and I have concluded that a certain personality type seems to go with the red chinos as we've encountered a couple of "characters" in recent years. One is a bass (thank fully moved on now) who thought he was God's gift to womankind, the other is a conductor (not ours) who is a retired surgeon and thinks that everyone is his flunky (think James Robertson Justice as Sir Lancelot Spratt).

Apologies to anyone who wears them and does not fit this stereotype rolleyes.gif

I definitely will not be buying the red chinos. tongue.gif

A wonderfully musical weekend - great performance of 'Manon' in HD, live from the Met yesterday ( seen at local cinema) with superb cast. I have a new fav tenor - Piotr Beczala wub.gif

Then more thrilling singing this morning - not only Mozart ( Coronation Mass) but also the Mascagni Easter Hymn, with a brilliantly powerful soloist. Fantastic, and quite emotional!

What's made me happy today?
Imagine a cold, windswept, remote 12th century church at the Butt of Lewis (the windiest bit - or Butt!) accessed only by a muddy footpath across a croft, where the rain always seems to fall horizontally. There is no heating, and the only lights are oil lamps. The portable keyboard runs on batteries, and everything for the services has to be taken up in a suitcase. But our Easter service there today was wonderful! smile.gif

(The trickiest bit was keeping the mud I collected from the croft off the bottom of my robe! wacko.gif )
