Hope it went well, Nicki! I've been wondering all day whether the stiffness in your face had gone away or not.

My happy is getting back from my son's graduation yesterday in Durham. It was a wonderful day, because he and his fellow graduates were all so happy biggrin.gif

Taking my two girls to their Grade 1 Violin exams. Watching them go in, all scared and nervous. Hearing them play beautifully. And then seeing two chuffed, smiley girls emerge. Fab! And the treaty KFC supper was OK too.

Another really good driving lesson! Either I'm actually getting better at this driving malarky or drinking Tea beforehand really works as a strange sort of superstition tongue.gif or a bit of both!

Methinks you will need a car for travelling between Hove and Southampton as there are few other viable alternatives. (Sailing might actually be quicker than the train or the A27. biggrin.gif )

Enjoy Southampton anyway. Shame the Frog and Frigate is no longer open in Canute Road. sad.gif

It probably would be (shame I don't sail tongue.gif )!! Both train and A27 take 1h40 and both pass every single West Sussex coastal town! Basically the A27 more or less consists of 1h40 of dual carriageway, roundabout, dual carriageway, roundabout etc and it's always busy!

Aww that's a shame as my halls were just off Canute road! Thanks, I'm really enjoying Southampton! smile.gif

I was walking down the street just now, when a young man at the bus stop accosted me with the words:

"'Ere, 'ow d'ya spell charble?"

"Err...'Charble'?"

"Yeah..charble."

"I don't know what you mean.."

"Yeah ya do...'charble'."

I could see he was sending a text, so I asked him what the sentence was.

"I wanna tell me mate I was in charble wiv the cops las' night." (Followed by an audible tut!)

"Oh..it's t.r.o.u.b.l.e"

"Yeah..that'll do. Ta mate."

LOL primrose!!!

For me - getting through the last week at Guildhall. It's always enormously stressful - tired children, small room becoming increasingly hot and airless as it's stuffed to the gunnels with parents watching classes...no break because of the Y6 Leavers' Concert...spending hours planning the lessons down to the nth degree so that all goes well with parents watching...spending more hours writing individual cards to the leavers, wrapping up tuning forks as leaving presents, cutting up pages of stickers...staggering in with four bottles of wine and two plants for a lovely cello teacher who's leaving...staggering back again with bags of pressies...

I'm just not very good with stress sad.gif . Less than five hours' sleep didn't help, either..

But I have to say I really enjoyed listening to all the Y6 leavers play - I never usually get the chance and have no idea what they are like on their instrument! They were all fab, with a couple of really outstanding ones. I didn't realise that one boy in my class has Grade 8 distinction (violin) blink.gif .

The highlight for me was a chamber group playing Dvorak - so sensitive, so mature - amazing, for 10 and 11 year olds.

We had no hot water this morning. The plumber has come and fixed it - taking about 10 minutes and not making any charge smile.gif

My car has been making an odd noise for a few weeks. My car mechanic had a look, took it out for a drive, worked out what the noise was and that it's just an annoying noise and not a sign my engine is about to fall out or anything. As I'm getting a new car in 8 weeks or so, not something to worry about (and I only drive on two days of the week, so that's only 16 drives!) No charge for this consultation smile.gif

Also, I made the two phone calls that got these things done which is an achievement all of itself at the moment smile.gif

Though to be honest, my cat has been making a strange noise for a few years (she's been with us nearly five years now, and has an amazing repertoire of vocalisations. Not to mention being a world-champion snorer!)

I have had a really, really bad day teaching wise, with a head teacher's rudeness reducing me to tears..... but we have just found out DD1 got distinction in her Gr 8 flute- taken on the same day as an English A2- 2 weeks after she told me she didn't want to do the exam as she was going to fail.....

Can't quite believe that.....but i am soooo pleased for her....... Really unexpected.....131.....

Work has been rather thin on the ground since I returned from Hungary a month ago. I've been disappointed to not be able to find a job, but delighted that I'm able to practice in the mornings and watch Wimbledon with no interruptions in the afternoon and evenings.

However, I had a phone call earlier in the week asking if I could work on Wednesday and Thursday. I said yes, but was sad about missing Wimbledon.

The good news is that there is practically nothing to do and I am permitted to use any unblocked site the internet. So, I have been able to watch Wimbledon online, and get paid to do so.

Result!

I delivered my 1st full length, full class lesson this afternoon. Roll on September when I start my training properly.
