It might be slightly more impressive if it hadn't taken 5 months smile.gif
Now if I'd done 400 miles in 5 weeks - that's commuting four days a week - then I'd be really happy.

The fact that I'm well on my way with my music coursework has cheered me up! And also that I have remembered the password to my account on this forum after a couple of months of not being able to post at all!

My last pupil made me happy this evening. Sha had been struggling recently fitting in enough practice, but tonight she played a piece perfectly because she loved it and had tried three more from the same book just for fun. smile.gif

I have FINALLY finished my physics coursework biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif And just as well given that the deadline's 8 o'clock tomorrow morning.

It was mean to take 10 hours and a couple of weeks ago I commented somewhere on slightly sarcastically that it would most likely take me 30 hours. I should have kept quiet because I must have spent a good 50 hours if not a lot more.

Now to do some maths... wacko.gif One day I might have some time for some music dry.gif

Congratulations on finally finishing the coursework! hurrah.gif I hope you get a brilliant mark. It's good to have got it done before the Chemistry kicks in!

Any news of your recorder yet? It's so good of your teacher to lend hers.

I think the first chemistry coursework is coming up soon dry.gif But I don't think that will be nearly as bad because (assuming its roughly the same sort of thing as last year) its very broken up into different bits rather than just being left to your own devices to do a whole investigation.

I haven't had any news recently, but I rang up mollenhauer last friday and they said it would be 2 to 3 weeks, so hopefully it should be home soonish fingersCrossed.gif

Ah, I thought you were doing Salter's as BerkshireSon did. That's a whole module of practical with a lot of research and a minimum of 15 hours in the lab. Although it sounds as if you've spent nearly as long on your Physics as the Salter's Chemistry would have taken!

I expect you want to concentrate on Maths and recorder now, coming up to Cambridge interview and grade 7. It's all go in year 13; are you doing driving lessons as well?

We're doing the other ocr syllabus. Last year we had one planning coursework, which was very spoon-fed, a practical and analysis thing, which you just spent a morning on and an evaluation thing, which, again, was just a morning.

We've done the practical and analysis for this year already, so now we just have planning and evaluating left. biggrin.gif

I'm not having driving lessons, so at least thats one thing less to worry about than most other people. All I want to do at the moment is concentrate on recorder, but I figured I should probably do at least 3 out of the 5 STEP questions I'm meant to be doing over the weekend before putting my foot down and saying I've done enough for this week. I'm also meant to be reading mathsy books, but honestly haven't had time, but I don't think my teacher's going to be happy, given that it's my last interview preparation thing this week unsure.gif

I expect it's best to split your time between recorder and Maths if you're serious about Cambridge. Are the interviews in December again? It seems quite soon to be having your final preparation - not that my son's school did any interview preparation at all.

Do make sure you've read any books you mention in your Personal Statement by the time of the interview, but as far as I remember the Clare interviews are nearly all Maths problems which you have to talk through. BerkshireSon was surprised to get very few questions based on the PS. Still, the interviewers may be different this year; I'm sure they all have their own ideas of how to select candidates and it's best to be prepared for anything.

I know I should be spending more time on maths really, it's just more of a long term thing, whereas my recorder exam is getting scarily close.

The Clare interviews are on the 6th or 17th of December, but I still don't know if I have one yet. We've been having sort of practice interviews every two weeks since pretty much the beginning of term.

Luckily the only book I mentioned on my personal statement was Flatland, which wasn't hugely complicated, and didn't really have any complicated ideas in it, so there's not much to remember there. I'm slightly more worried by the fact that I wrote in my statement that I was going to organise some talks with a friend like we did last year(she's since dropped maths, so isn't going to help and as of yet, no more talks have been planned unsure.gif )
