Long story (and even longer journey!)

after a fairly dreadful morning at school, (people forgot, or turned up with no music, gcse performance looming)

my last pupil of the day played all three of her grade one pieces fluently

Well yeserday, now but I ended up spending daddy's money. on three books and a coat Oh well. It's all good =DD

Especially all my coats are thin and I've been walking around a bit blue this year. :rollyeyes:

Got my results

Today I put on the jacket I have been knitting for the first time (couldn't put it on last night after I'd sewn it up because it needed covering with damp cloths and left over night) - it fits, I like it on me and it is REALLY warm in this frosty weather. Now on to my son's football scarf...

Getting my final offer from UCAS, so I can now book an appt with the headmistress to confirm and then accept my place.

A hitherto timid child coming in for her music lesson today and announcing that not only is she definitely going to do Grade 5 descant recorder this summer (as I had been hoping) but Grade 3 treble as well.

Well, this is belated, for it is in part from Tuesday and in part from today.

On Tuesday I met with my brother and his two children We went to London and to the Science Museum and then to Hamley's. I bought them both a present in Hamley's. But I also bought myself a present there too

They had Bagpuss toys, including some of the mice from the Marvellous Mechanical Mouse Organ. One was wearing a pink dress and when you squeezed her she sang Row, row, row the boat...but the other one, he was in a blue gingham suit. I knew I'd have to get him once I heard him. Just before I left the house this morning, I gave him a squeeze, so now for today I have a lovely little tune in my head:

We will stick it with glue, glue, glue.
We will stickle it, every little bit of it,
We will fix it like new, new, new.

Which will make me smile all day long

Today, a distant aquaintance did something very thoughtful just for me and has made me smile

She lives on the otherside of the world but made my otherwise difficult and frustrating day with her kindness

My friend bought me a tube of fruit gums (since I'd wanted some fruit pastilles after all the talk of them on here) ... and then apologised profusely that they weren't fruit pastilles, as if it wasn't enough that she'd gone out and bought some.
I love that girl
Think I may have to write her a letter... I love writing letters and I know she'll appreciate it

Finally getting an orthodontist appointment today was good, apart from the fact that I only had 40 minutes notice. I'm not sure whether the fact that the proper, scary treatment is starting next month has made me happy or not though.

Dancing in the common room during lunch made us all quite happy too.

Hubby made me dinner.... and took kids out shopping even though he'd been at work all day.... and my migraine has gone.... and a pupil doing her Gr 4 has finally got the hang of her pieces... can't say the same for her scales..... and pupil doing Gr 3 has got the hang of his scales (but not arpeggios..... ) Good job the exam date hasn't come yet.

A really good theory lesson! I'm starting to really love most aspects of theory - though I'm sure that'll change with the exam coming up - or with the results.

I couldn't face cooking, so just burned some toast instead.

Playing the piano made me slightly happier though (have perfected half a page of one of my pieces - so only 12 1/2 left Hopefully the exam isnt too soon! )

Teaching my Bootleg Beatle again for the first time since the end of November - he managed to squeeze in a lesson in between all the touring. He is sooooo lovely and we have such a good time!

Hearing that my friend and ex-piano teacher passed her LRSM. Great, great news.

I've got one of the sticky bars in one of the pieces for my recital cracked (I think).

The iffy news is there's still another bar that needs looking at...

And I'm also happy that our rock band had a great practice tonight - it helped that the drummer was more sober than last week! All that music makes me very happy! Permission to have a lot of fun... why should it just be for the youngsters ????

Have just played through ALL my scales, making lists of them all:

tiny slip-up list: 39

secure list: 84!!!

My friend is staying for a couple of days....
My sister is alive and back in contact after a mountain climb in Argentina, with not too much frostbite (tho she and her hubby have lost a bit of feeling in tips of their fingers.... she thinks the feeling will return!!!!!!!)

Had a great win at skittles tonight (this is Northamptonshire bar (on a table) skittles where you throw 'cheeses' at the skittles) - I won my leg 5 - 1, our team won overall 5-2 and we won the 'beer-horse' as well (a friendly session after the league match). Great fun!

I had a really nice dream last night, in which it was sunny

Then I woke up and could see blue sky and sunshine through the gap in my curtains as well

I really can't wait until summer

I am the biggest coward out when it comes to the dentist. I am happy because it's over - at least until next week.

The sun is out, it's my day off and I have the whole house to myself to practise/sing loudly/play cds loudly as neighbour is out as well

And - It's lunchtime and I'm still not dressed yet
