YEAAAHHH!! wink.gif

I consider myself to be a nice friendly chap and easy to get on with, but when my patience and consideration is rewarded by being taken for an easy ride then I bite back.

The student was shocked at being "fired" - and put the phone down on me.

Am I bovvered? dry.gif

I am now able to replace her with someone who has been on the waiting list for several weeks. He is DELIGHTED and started this very afternoon.

For those of you who think this is unseemly behaviour for a teacher of my age.............TUFF

Well actually it was yesterday but when I woke up it was the first thing I thought of.

My daughter entered her first swimming gala and got a silver and a bronze (butterfly and backstroke). She is only seven and it was our city gala so she was really nervous. I was soooooo proud!!

Just hope everything goes equally well in her grade I in two weeks time. (Piano practice has suffered because of swimming training!)

Slaying vampires would certainly have made me very happy. It's very sad but yes I am a 39 year-old Buffy wannabe!

Well done, that's really good... but it triggered a VERY old memory for me laugh.gif I was entered in my first huge swimming gala at about the same age (6 or 7)... except nobody had taught me how to dive at the start and none of the other kids were getting in the water to start there.. so I thought diving looked easy enough and I'd give it a go.... and promptly hit my head on the bottom of the swimming pool wacko.gif Luckily I didn't knock myself out and carried on with the race.. ending up last blush.gif .

I cried all the way home from shame but I forgot to tell anyone I'd hit my head until they saw the bruise the next day rolleyes.gif

I haven't thought about that since it happened!

I'm another Buffy fan! biggrin.gif After years of watching odd programmes with my daughter, I eventually became hooked. She never got past series 5 though, so I don't know what happens in series 6 and 7!
jacobpianofluteorgan
Had a really good flute lesson, and my tone has improved loads! We found it was because I was taking "girly" breathes and not using my diaphragm to support the notes, which has now been sorted. You have to take "Darth Vader" breathes! (my teacher is weird!) smile.gif

Is Inverness really seven years behind us? laugh.gif

1) Knowing there should be post for me when I get home. And not a boring bill (though there might be one of those), but instead a Big Parcel of music, and two smaller parcels each containing a novel.
Now I've said that, none of them will turn up biggrin.gif Well, as long as one of them makes it I'll be happy (actually, it'd be good if they came on consecutive days, that would keep me happy for three days in a row!)

2) Having written 960 words of a 1000 word 'essay'. It's pretty much done, I just need a decent closing sentence, but I have 40 words to do that in, so that shouldn't be toooooo much of a struggle. Not that I've done that today (that would be a good morning's work!) but today I should finish that last sentence and be done with it and send it off.

3) Hunting out maps, directions, etc ready to see Red Priest on Friday (as I am going somewhere familiar, but getting there by an unfamiliar route) yay.gif

4) My cold being almost nearly gone biggrin.gif

Being contacted by local radio (Lancashire) who want to come and interview me and record (I think) one of my adult education classes for broadcasting.

It's a keyboard class, and rather than everyone working their own choice, I involve them all in a "project piece" every few weeks. The current project is to create the "Mantovani strings" - everyone in the group uses the orchestral string sound in various octaves to create a keyboard string ensemble, and by dividing the class into string sections, with me providing rhythm accompaniment and a suitable piano part, we ain't 'alf made a bad job of Charmaine (wouldn't ya know!)

Anyway, word has got round, and it's attracted the attention of BBC Radio Lancs!!

We've rehearsed today for visit next Tuesday!!

The vending machine has gone made again and is now charging 10p for everything (chocolate bar, bag of crisps, can of drink). You can always tell this has happened because you walk past it and it is virtually empty. Often there's a whisper going round that it's doing that, but I haven't been privy to that today...once the whisper starts, the machine will be empty within 15 minutes!
Cheap chocolate = happy.

What's not made me happy yet, but I am looking forward to is:
  • Music lesson (I have been promised a new scale to learn biggrin.gif )
  • Treating self to fast-food-type dinner out (probably a pasty from the pasty shop - cheap, filling and yummy)
  • Seeing Red Priest in concert!

[*]Music lesson (I have been promised a new scale to learn biggrin.gif )

Please can I have the secret of your enthusiasm for scales. Is it something you can condense and put in a bottle so that I can pass it on to one or two errant pupils? (I suspect it's just something like I used to find as a biology teacher - mention the word plants, and the whole class groaned, with the exception of one girl who went on to be a botanist! She was my fav pupil for quite a while!)
