Having the most FAB lesson with my Bootleg Beatle today (yeah, yeah, yeah tongue.gif ) after a couple of months break - he was flying and we were both on a high by the end of the lesson.

Still smiling!!!

Ooh quite a lot today actually.

On Tuesday I had my hair permed and I wasn't very happy with it, it looked lovely wet, but then when it was dry it was sticking outwards! urgh!! So this morning I had made another appointment to go back to my hairdresser and get her to stick some layers in it to calm it down. She did this and I came home and used my hotbrush on the sides just a little and teased the curls and now it looks really nice - in fact it looks just like I used to have it years ago - and my daughter said I looked just like I did all those years ago (hmm must be at least 20! ) so that is no. 1!

Went to town yesterday and managed to get a lovely black evening dress for a dinner and dance I am going to next week - downside is that the store have left in the electronic tag, so got to go back to get it removed.

Had my clarinet and piano lesson tonight - oh how I love my music lessons.

Been a good day today. Needed that as yesterday I found out that I didn't get my job. (never mind)

Finally getting my composition recorded (I've been frantically trying to organise it for the last few weeks) and it sounds pretty good despite having just recorded it straight onto my laptop. The only shame was that the time we played it right, someone opened a door in the middle of it and we didn't have time to redo it. dry.gif It's much better than the sibelius recorders though. biggrin.gif

No.1 son responded v. well to a 'chat' about drinking (where, when, what's acceptable, what's downright unacceptable) as I suddenly found there was something occuring than I hadn't anticipated - not necessarily something he was doing, but which was definitely going on around him. I can tell it was something he was worried about as he is so much more cheerful now. He's such a dear, and I do worry happy.gif smile.gif

No.2 son extended his piano practice yesterday into 'other' music (Lord of the Rings in this case), something he hasn't done for ages smile.gif

AND

*fanfare* nephew has been accepted onto the National Youth Theatre course for next year - how fab is that?! biggrin.gif

For me, finding a dress that actually fits, with a matching cardi. Then to top the lot, a pair of shoes that feel comfortable that go with the dress. party1.gif party1.gif party1.gif

Well done. party1.gif Clothes shopping can be really difficult - especially shoes.

I have little feet, which makes shoes even harder to get. wacko.gif

Most of the girls in my year (including me biggrin.gif ) dressed up 'Fame' style (leggings, skirts, legwarmers, tied shirts, leotards, headbands, crazy hair...) and went to class dressed so. biggrin.gif party1.gif We're getting quite restless as we only have two days left of school until we finish FOREVER! None of us want to leave, and we're all getting rather nostalgic, but we love the excuse to dress up! biggrin.gif

We also took the skeleton from Biology, dressed him up and put him in the lift biggrin.gif laugh.gif

hehe that sounds like fun! smile.gif

speaking of not acting your age lol, a friend has made me a sticker chart with gold stars (yes, I may be 20 but I like sticky stars!! laugh.gif ), the aim being to earn a star each day I have to think of some kind of positive about myself...I don't see me getting many stars sad.gif but the thought that they're prepared to help me out and help me keep an eye on what I'm thinking did make me smile smile.gif made me feel like they really care and aren't bothered by me having a bit of a rough time at the moment, which was nice smile.gif

EDIT: bothered in the sense that it doesn't affect the way they see me, and they aren't going to shun me, as opposed to they don't care about it...but I suppose the fact that they made me a sticker chart shows that hehe

Yesterday it was my Step Dad's funeral. On the way, my Mum, Barry and I were in the limo, and we went past a speed gun. It slipped out, and I said "Oh look Mum, Bern's going to get done for speeding on his final journey". She swapped tears for peals of laughter, and was amazed that she could do that. But I aways think that tears and laughter are very close. smile.gif

For some reason I found this very moving. I'm glad you were able to share a laugh together at such a sad time. A funeral is for grieving, but also for celebrating the life just lost, and I feel your stepfather would have enjoyed the joke.

Hope you're feeling OK today.

That's lovely, Bev. You may remember that I hoped that you would soon be able to move from sadness to happy memories - it seems you and your Mum have already taken the first step on that journey.
maggiemay
Bev, that's a wonderful story. Really is!

My mum used to say there's humour in most situations.

For some reason I was reminded of the time my aunt (mum's older sister) was ill in hospital, shortly before she died. She had a feeding cup to drink out of.

She tried for a few minutes and obviously wasn't getting much out of it. She handed it to us with a frown and said ' can you peel it please?'

I remember we often laughed about that.

I had my first seminar of the term today, and I think fingersCrossed.gif *touch wood* that I'm going to love my course this term. My tutor seems really cool, it was very interesting (two hours sitting in a room, and at no point was I bored), and it was a lot of fun. smile.gif
