I really don't understand why people kick up a fuss about RCT... I had this done a while ago and it was a complete non-event smile.gif

so that's 20% of the overall grade I think.

Did end of year maths test

I failed miserably biggrin.gif
I think...

I didn't revise, so it's my own silly fault blush.gif
I'm just glad it's over and done with, so that I don't have to feel guilty about not doing revision anymore laugh.gif

Also, I'm not really that great at maths. I was somehow put in the top set this year, and have had to work quite hard, and didn't understand some things as quickly as most.

So in a way, I'm looking forward to being in a group, and moving at the kind of pace that I'd like to work at smile.gif
My teacher says all the groups have potential to get you an A* (which is apparently my target dry.gif ) so I'd just like to work a little slower.

Plus they give the lower groups the better teachers wink.gif

Aw, Bobziekins - I can really sympathise! I 'worked my wee socks off' to stay in the top class for maths, and was fine until 5th year, when they moved me down a class ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif.

And I went on to get an A.

Power to not being in the top class! highfive.gif

Good luck x

Yeah, high five!

I'm the opposite. I've always been TERRIBLE at maths. My parents didn't think I'd pass my 11+ because my maths was so bad. So they got me a tutor, who I hated, and avoided at all costs.

I managed to pass it, one mark off failing rolleyes.gif

Then I went to the grammar school, took a test, and they put me in top set for some reason... In year 7 I was terrible still, and used to daydream out the window. My average was 55%... Then last year I sat next to a maths whizz, who was top in the country, and would explain it to me when she'd finished her work. My average was 95% that year smile.gif

Now it's about 75%. You need 80% to be in top...

Well done with your A though, I'm hoping for at most a B laugh.gif

Join the club. tongue.gif

I was always terrible at pure maths. I scraped my maths for engineering at college by 1%.

However, I remember through school I was always good with applied maths in Physics, and in college I was always fine doing maths in electronics (I still remember tonnes of formulae!). I suppose if I don't find it useful, I'm not interested.

The only maths I recall using recently is Pythagoras, working out percentiles, percentages and also quite a few time/date calculations in scripts I've written. biggrin.gif

I'm not good at science either... for me it's more art, music, drama, english etc.

My friend however, is terrible at the subjects I'm good at, and amazing at the subjects I'm terrible at. So we work pretty well together smile.gif

That's good.

I don't know why i'm in top set - I really feel like I should be in bottom set sometimes. A* was my GCSE target as well but i'm happy with the A I got.

I'm doing additional maths at the moment (exam last friday) and it is horrible when you don't get it but when I revised it seemed to come together just in time and I'm sure I didn't fail at least. I really crammed it all in at the last minute

Plagiarism is bad, mmmkay? tongue.gif I was always better at English, French, Art, Physics, Chemistry and Biology than anything else (as per previous thread, they wouldn't let me do Music and Art sad.gif)

I was an epic failure at Geography and Maths. I would have found Geography more interesting if the syllabus had involved more Geology and stuff like that.

I have finally finished my GCSE's! One or two interesting exams (maths and chemistry ph34r.gif ), but overall, they've gone very well! 20 exams is too much though! I've only taken 10 GCSE's, but some of the exams have 2 or 3 papers!

hurrah.gif It's lovely to see the back of GCSEs biggrin.gif I think they're the worst set of exams you'll do for a long time, because there are lots of subjects you have to do even though you wouldn't choose to. When you go back, you'll be doing things you've chosen, so even if the work is harder, it will be much more fun.

Enjoy your long summer!

agree.gif I think they also seem particularly scary because your teachers will have been drumming it into you since year 7 how important they are and how difficult etc. They're also the first proper exams most eople will do (SATs don't count!).

The reverse side of Miss Ross' story is also true - I was in the top class all the time I did maths (only until GCSE) and I ended up getting a C... I'm sure you'll do better in a comfier "zone". smile.gif Good luck!

Having a rare 'day off' (lots to do though)...

...and managing to track down and buy a CD of Moura Lympany's 1945 recording of the Saint-Saens Piano Concerto No.2 for my dad - who told me last week he was present at the recording, in Kingsway Hall, in his lunch hour! He said he was sitting 6 rows back with his brown paper bag of sandwiches..but Moura flashed him this beautiful smile, played like an angel and he was transfixed (and the sandwiches were forgotten!)...

Umm, I had to work all day, and today we didn't even get to eat until we'd done ALL the work. However, that meant that (since I was working at a wedding) I could sit down and enjoy large amounts of fabulous food, without jumping up to clear the tables and take out cake, and pour coffee a million times. So that made me happy.

Oh, believe me, you can. They can be cute, and come purring and sleep beside you. Or they will purr very loudly and try to sleep on your face. Or everytime you move a tiny bit they all jump on you. Then one of them is very cute, and purry and rubs around your face, then he'll chew. He chews on everything, ears, nose, fingers, cheek, neck, hair etc etc. We think he's trying to be affectionate, but it hurts.

Then I've got a cheese plant, above the gap of a stair well (big drop- around 2m, 3m on top of the cheese plant). They like to run and jump around the gap/ACROSS the gap, climb up the cheese plant, try to push each other off, rip up the leaves, scatter mud all over the carpet. While I sit there watching them, terrified that they'll fall. One has so far, but she was ok, we had her checked over by the vets. Nothing's happened since...

And all of this constantly going on at 3am when you've got a test the next day at school is not good.

And my bedroom is the attic, so it doesn't have a door. They don't bother anyone else, they like my room because it has things that they can climb on.

When the sun goes down they all turn into little monsters. But I love them happy.gif

I judged a charity dog show today biggrin.gif I had brilliant fun and there were some fabulous dogs there... in the class for 'Dog the Judge would most like to take home' there were about 15 that could have come home with me - the winner was a ten-month old St Bernard, complete with barrel round his neck, VAST amounts of slobber and just huge, huge, huge laugh.gif I don't usually even like hairy dogs but this was a fabulous boy!

One dear sweet lady was so excited when she won 'Handsomest dog' with her German Shepherd that she nearly burst into tears! She then told me how much he meant to her and how he'd changed her life and how devoted they were to each other. The dog was beautiful and in sparkling condition.

Actually all the classes were full of wonderful family pets and the 'Best trick' was really impressive with tiny children making their pet dogs give paws, do 'high-fives' and lots of rolling over. I just wish I had been able to give everyone rosettes.

The sun was out, the fair was busy, the charity made lots of money and the dogs all wagged their tails.

Great fun and I have a lovely happy glow biggrin.gif laugh.gif party1.gif
