Today my eldest daughter played her flute and sang in the Symphony Hall in Birmingham
The whole concert was arranged by the local schools music service and it was brilliant.
I am one proud Mummy.
After we took her to the Cafe Rouge, where she had her favourite meal.
Home to see the final of the skating, and Lewis.
A yummy day altogether.

Today I had to walk with a group of cubs on a six mile hike in the rain. You don't walk with your own cubs. You have to walk with another group (it's a competition). It was very wet... and my group of boys got unbelievably muddy. They all enjoyed it.... and at the end one said 'Will you do it again next year?' Probably' I answered. 'I hope we get you again' they said!!!!
I was dead chuffed... you have to work quite hard not to allow the cubs to get fed up (it rained for the first 2 hours).

Had a good day teaching..... one girl had her clarinet mended (after weeks ands weeks). Another one who had decided she didn't want to do any more exams (after a scary examiner) said 'I think I do want to do my Gr 3, but in November, not June'. She has a new sling for her clarinet and a stand (so she doesn't put it away every time she plays it) and she has begun practicing lots. She played so nicely today (she has a wonderful tone for a player of her standard). My 8 year old doing Gr 1 tomorrow is excited. My 12 doing doing Gr 3 tomorrow was confident.
It's so nice when you have one of those days when every pupil seems to be improving.
And my youngest has come back from a school residential. It's nice to see her (although I think she'd prefer to still be away with her friends).

Congrats!
I'm off timetable all day today to finish off ICT coursework, which isn't exactly too taxing and I'm with my friends

Then after today I effectively have a six-day weekend since we also have tuesday and wednesday of next week off

And yes, I know that it is nearly a week off, but "six day weekend" sounds so much better than "nearly a week off"

That's good news, DC. How is he?

Enjoy spending your unexpected bonus!!
Thank you..he's "Fine" according to my mum. He said about getting the bus home because my brother in law is not around and they didn't want to bother me here at work. It's cold and tipping it down with rain, but he didn't want to be a "nuisance".

Luckily, a friend of theirs came and got them both.
My unexpected bonus? Do I get carpet for the hallway or music???

Thank you, maggie. Same to you too!

I've finally got back online at home, after about a week or two of only being able to connect from work

I've just been installing a new router and although it's taken the best part of the evening and a phone call to the call centre, I'm finally up and running again!
I'll try and catch up on a few emails, although I might go and get something to eat first

I've managed to book the hamster into the local pet shop for her "holidays" while we're away in the summer.
It's much easier than asking friends because we're away across 3 weeks so it's hard to find someone who's going to be around all the time.

Discovering that there's a new 'old-fahsioned' sweet shop opening in town.

Finding out that it's my mum's best friend who owns it.

Being offered a job in said establishment.

Oh yes, and being able to invite someone to stay in the summer.

I am getting a new piano teacher (my mum teaching me isnt working anymore, we argue too much!

), who is a concert pianist, and is a very nice lady (i've met her once before), and i start in september after i've got my grade 7 out the way and stuff.
The downside is that i will have to catch the bus early on saturdays and travel for an hour to get to her, but on the plus side, she owns a VERY nice grand piano in her house!

One of the highlights of last week's Leeds concert (and there were *many*, but one of them...) was Amber and Barry-clari singing Offenbach's Barcarolle, it was just beautiful. I'd bought the sheet music for this piece ages ago, and when I bought it I couldn't play it - too long, couldn't get the hang of some of the tied 6/8 rhythms, finger dexterity not good enough... but I've just tried playing it again and now I can do it, yay!

Not that it sounds as good as last week's rendition... I'd love to hear it sung again

(not that I'm hinting or anything...
