biggrin.gif Lots of things have made me happy today laugh.gif

I had a lovely day walking my dogs into the hills with my husband. We made pizza together tonight (I make the base and he makes the topping). The weather was gorgeous, the dogs had brilliant fun and I took some great photographs.

Now, I'm sitting with my laptop and the dogs all bunched up on my knee watching 'Get Carter' with Michael Caine and drinking organic cider. yummm

laugh.gif Oh, I also got my viola exam result today.. a distinction!

I can't believe how much some people can change, Chev. That's all really, but... well, it's hard to explain. Thanks for asking.

Having a good rehearsal, then a good dinner out with the other 'cellists (which cost me £5, due to me doing a cello quintet gig a few weeks back, and so we put all the money towards the "dinner out" fund! biggrin.gif), and then a relatively good concert (which was rather wet!) rain.gif

I love wallpapering - I find it very therapeutic. My sons don't, they just paint their walls sad.gif .

biggrin.gif I'm surprised how much I've enjoyed doing it. I thought I would find all the paper peeling off this morning!

laugh.gif You remind me of a song my dad used to sing:

When father papered the parlour, you couldn't see pa for paste.
Dabbin' it here, dabbin' it there, dabbin' it blinking everywhere,
The kids were stuck to the ceiling, the missus was stuck to the floor,
You never saw a blooming family so stuck up before!

Playing the piano with my siblings, even if they regard me as stupid most of the time (I think the quote last week was "How can you be so utterly stupid at most stuff, yet still be good at maths and music?! blush.gif ), they make me laugh. smile.gif

Oh, and making a pizza from scratch with my sister. We may have ended up covered in bits of cheese/flour/tomato (me especially, she decided I needed tomato on my face- you would never know she is 14 with the way she was acting today wink.gif) and she helped me sort out my mistakes, but not in a horrible "you're stupid" way, instead a light-hearted way. tongue.gif

Ah, how I would miss them if I had ended up moving out of home like planned last year! ph34r.gif laugh.gif

It's just occurred to me that during my exam I had to put my viola down. In our conversation the examiner referred to it as having a "lovely sound". I was given a distinction so he really did mean it!!

I'm not saying this to be big-headed about how nice a sound I can make blush.gif but because my viola itself is nice enough to warrant a comment like that from an examiner. I bought it from China from a company who is gaining an excellent reputation for their top-range instruments and it's true - it has a lovely sound biggrin.gif I've been told it would cost three or four times as much for a sound like that in this country even from an older instrument.

So I love my viola and that makes me happy laugh.gif (He's called Pan) wub.gif

I think having a decent instrument that sounds good is an extremely good way to motivate yourself... The sounds you make, even if you're not playing great are a lot more pleasing to the ear and hence learning is more rewarding IMO. This is why I went way over budget when I bought my Clavinova! blush.gif

Oh, and the other music I ordered arrived this morning (Nyman's "The Piano" and a few other bits). I am going to be sooooo busy over the next few months ohmy.gif

Well Im driving up as far as Dumfries later today, then to Turnberry Thursday am to watch the Open Golf. (I hear Barry groan.) Earlier in the week the weather forecast was lousy, but it seems now it may be quite decent up there on Thursday.

(Any forumites in Ayrshire ? I can't think of anyone)

Fiona rang me this morning. She was walking to work. I wasn't walking anywhere. I was in bed! It was lovely to hear from her, of course, despite my slightly comatose state. After speaking to her, I thought I may as well get up, so her corresponding added a few hours to my day! I bet not everyone has such a nice alarm clock... wink.gif

I had a great time this morning doing my sixth form induction. I met lots of very nice new people and all my teachers are very nice. I'm doing Music, History, French and Psychology for A level, and some how have over 10 teachers for 4 subjects! I've some how got all the teachers I like and wanted to get and have some really great people in my lessons.

I had to spend £40 on French text books and a HUGE dictionary (The ones that make a satisfying "Thud" when you close them!), but luckily we're not expected to take this to and from school, It's really heavy! blink.gif

I'm now very excited, but slightly worried about my GCSE results, because it will decide whether I get into sixth form (I'm on target to get As and B's and the odd A*, but i'm still worried!). I wont get to pick them up myself as I'm in Australia, which also means I don't get a chance to speak to teachers incase it means a subject change. unsure.gif I've also got to wait for my Grade 8 Piano results! sad.gif

But worrying about GCSE's aside, I've had a really nice day! biggrin.gif

Jacob. smile.gif

Glad you had a good day Jacob, and it sounds like you're really looking forward to sixth form biggrin.gif
