My third post to the happy thread in a day, how nice

I just dropped in to my mum's house to see how she is getting on with our semi-missing cat. Well, he is about more and more, definitely knows where his food comes from, and she's moving the food towards the door, where she will shortly have a cat flap. Where he spends his non-eating time, we're not sure...well, not for most of it.
BUT, my mum's next door neighbour also has a cat. A very timid, tiny little girl cat, who is scared of her own shadow. And it turns out, the two cats are spending lots of time together. Our cat is spending time in her garden (the neighbour doesn't mind), and they've been seen laying together on the warm concrete near the back of the houses; not snuggled up close, but with only a small gap between them - in cat terms, best of friends! Both are neutered so no worries on that front! It's just amazing because our solitary outdoors cat is just that - solitary. He did used to live with his sister but she died some years ago, since when he became a bit more people-oriented, but we don't know of any 'cat friends' that he had.
So it's lovely, he is beginning to find his feet and settle, I am sure once my mum has a cat flap she can work more on getting him indoors especially once the weather is not so warm and dry. But I am just so delighted that he has a friend
