Realising that our financial situation is going to change some time in the next few months, and leave us approximately one thousand pounds per month better off! And not just once, but every month! It's just a bonkers thing when we think about it. It means we can save up for a nice new bathroom (ours is functional-but-a-bit-grim), tart up the kitchen, and ponder things like a new recorder or a snazzy bicycle...

A very, very silly joke.....

Q: What do you get if you cross a motorway with a wheelbarrow?

A: Run over, you idiot!

For the first time in the last 6 weeks or so I'm finally on top of my workload, just in time to take 2 weeks off. I haven't got everything done that the powers-that-be would really like me to have done, but I have done everything I told them realistically might be possible, and that was looking fairly unlikely earlier in the week.

Now I've got a week's jazzing and a week's relaxing to look forward to

It didn't rain when my choir and I were performing outdoors at Bristol's Temple Quay! The wind did blow though and there were some moments of apprehension when I thought my music would blow away..... biggrin.gif

It's looking like there's a bit of a breeze out there, so I just checked, and it appears there's a 15mph wind out there...blowing in the direction of home! YAY for tailwinds! IPB Image

My third post to the happy thread in a day, how nice biggrin.gif

I just dropped in to my mum's house to see how she is getting on with our semi-missing cat. Well, he is about more and more, definitely knows where his food comes from, and she's moving the food towards the door, where she will shortly have a cat flap. Where he spends his non-eating time, we're not sure...well, not for most of it.
BUT, my mum's next door neighbour also has a cat. A very timid, tiny little girl cat, who is scared of her own shadow. And it turns out, the two cats are spending lots of time together. Our cat is spending time in her garden (the neighbour doesn't mind), and they've been seen laying together on the warm concrete near the back of the houses; not snuggled up close, but with only a small gap between them - in cat terms, best of friends! Both are neutered so no worries on that front! It's just amazing because our solitary outdoors cat is just that - solitary. He did used to live with his sister but she died some years ago, since when he became a bit more people-oriented, but we don't know of any 'cat friends' that he had.
So it's lovely, he is beginning to find his feet and settle, I am sure once my mum has a cat flap she can work more on getting him indoors especially once the weather is not so warm and dry. But I am just so delighted that he has a friend biggrin.gif

We appear to have adopted our neighbours cat! It keeps coming into the house whenever the front door is opened, and it spent the night yesterday. I think its owner works a lot during the day, s/he must be lonely, so comes to seek salvation with us!
Its a nice ginger one wub.gif happy.gif

It'll be a male, HC - you don't get female ginger cats IIRC. smile.gif

Aww what a beauty! I know two female cats who are both white with ginger patches. Apparently, you can get all-ginger female cats, but it is uncommon. Similarly, tortoiseshell cats are usually female - males with that colouring are less common that females. Though neither is rare, just less common. And these have grown in to the myths that ginger cats can only be boys, and torties can only be girls.

I went to the new Tesco's that's just opened on the Market Place where Woolworths used to be. It is so huge. ohmy.gif I felt a bit like a child in a sweet shop and have bought lots of lovely food that I haven't had for ages blush.gif - things like Rye bread, salami, flavoured couscous and frozen potato croquets. The kind of stuff which Iceland (which has been our 'main' supermarket for ages) and the greengrocer's and butcher's don't sell. wub.gif

I'll probably still get veg from the grocers on N Road, and will use the butcher's in the indoor market when possible, but it is so nice to have a supermarket again (even if it is a tescos). party1.gif Don't know how well the supermarket will do unsure.gif (we went through Safeway's, Morrisons and Waitrose in just under 4 years and then ended up with no-one apart from the little Iceland and Spar on N Road and a very small and expensive tesco express) but it will be nice not to spend half a day going round different shops to fet food each week. smile.gif

An organist friend who was at my church this morning: "You played beautifully and made that organ sound better than it is." blush.gif

It meant a lot to me because this friend certainly does_not give praise away lavishly, and it's quite a while since another organist heard me play and had anything positive to say!

Playing moosic with Alpha Male Jazz Cat smile.gif HORRORS I was FORCED (well, coerced) into playing piano duets (FEAR) but didn't do a bad job muddling through some Bach wub.gif and Handel flute stuff. I also massaged his paws with some super-duper Molton Brown potion....simple things....

And earlier on it was mwl1 for spending hours on the phone to me as I got lost in a forest trying to take a shortcut home having left the house following an argument and thus pretty upset. rolleyes.gif I'd have freaked out even more if he hadn't been talking to me the whole time.
