It's better without that synthetic string accompaniment! biggrin.gif

I have to go and collect my Head Girl Gown and hat thing (mortar board? I'm not totally sure...) today....It's being passed down from the previous head girl and I get given the school Book - which is a diary and letters with advice for being Head Girl! I'm so excited, but a little bit nervous too - I want to do a good job! fingersCrossed.gif

Had a relaxing morning, reading and playing clarinet. clarinet.gif have friends coming over this afternoon and we might go out for coffee (to a plcae where the kids will be entertained by a play area) and then.... I have band thie evening biggrin.gif A good day lined up. smile.gif

Aww! thereThere.gif Solari

I'm feeling so much better than I was a few days ago, which is enough to make me smile smile.gif But I did wake up twice in the night having trouble which was a bit scary!

A really nice surprise at work biggrin.gif

I woke up at 3am with horrendous toothache!!! It felt like it was going straight through my brain! ohmy.gif sad.gif

And why does this make me happy?

Well the pain stopped after about ten minutes or so. I was lying there worrying myself sick about root canal treatment, infections etc. etc... it didn't feel like a cavity. Very strange. Then my husband pointed out that I had been grinding my teeth in my sleep! Not good because my jaw is a bit bruised... but MUCH better than a tooth problem!!! laugh.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I see my dentist next week anyway but I'm certainly happy he'll not be drilling anything!!! biggrin.gif

Music lessons due to re-start next Friday (11th) but I needed to re-arrange as I am having to take the cat to the cattery at that time. So I asked what other times would be available next week...and then said, hang on, as I'm asking, do you have any longer slots available at the moment.
And it turns out, my teacher does indeed have one slot available.
So as of next Thursday (10th) my lessons are on a Thursday, and are one hour long biggrin.gif
Thursday is better because it doesn't delay food shopping on a Friday evening (which, my husband claims, he can not do without me); and it means that if I feel all energetic and cycle to work all the other days of the week, my non-cycling day is now a Thursday (instead of a Friday) which means no four-consecutive-cycling days smile.gif

I am happy because my hand injury from playing squash is healing up faster than expected. Nothing to worry about, it was just some slight bruising as a result of being in the way of a racquet swing during a game of doubles, which of course I won.

Getting my OU assignment back and finding I had passed it, woot.gif I was certain I had failed smile.gif

Trying out some of my new music on clarinet. And... I had a clarinet lesson tonight. Went fairly well I think to say we've had a long break over summer and some time away not playing. smile.gif (There are always bits to perfect though aren't there??) My teachers seemed happy enough though. smile.gif

Hearing from a very special boy whom I taught when I was in my first teaching job...I taught him in Y2 and Y3 and he is now 35 (eeep!). I managed to find him on facebook and I am SOOOO delighted to be in touch with him again. I found him in June but have only just got round to writing him a ridiculously long e-mail and he's replied with one almost as long laugh.gif .

He said he remembered all the 'singing, spelling and sewing' that we did in class. I think I'll settle for being remembered for that!

I got a few compliments from people at drama blush.gif

One girl has been complimenting me most of the time, which is nice, so I've started doing what she does, and now if I see anything I like at all, I say so, and ask where they got it.

And today, and the past couple of times, people have been giving compliment back. Like today someone commented on this new bag I got, and then said "you always wear such nice clothes" which left me gobsmacked because I've always felt terrible at choosing clothes and like I didn't really fit in there. And it was actually genuine!

So that made me happy, because it means that they either actually like what I'm wearing, or have clocked that I'm giving compliments, so are doing it back to me, which is good because it means they're taking into account things I do and noticing things biggrin.gif

Just heard that the pub we played in last SUnday has offered us a regular (paid) slot!

I think whether we can commit to doing it or not is still needs to be discussed, but I'm buzzing that the feedback from last Sunday's gig was so good they want to make it a regular thing smile.gif smile.gif

(must stop bouncing up and down and get on with finishing what I'm supposed to be doing so I can go home though)

Going back to my old school for a wedding that was held in the chapel there...and remembering just how much I LOVE the place and how much it is a part of me that I had forgotten.

And having a most weird and incredible experience in the chapel - I can only call it a 'spiritual' one...

Discovering today that when relaxed I can sing a lot higher comfortably than I thought I could. Was very surprised as there were people (musicians even!) listening......now need to work out how to get as relaxed as that without staying up far too late having a sing song around the piano!

Taking my 16 yr old son to his induction day at college and hearing that he's enjoyed his first morning. This is especially wonderful because he was forced to leave his previous school in the middle of year 10, go to a referral centre to try and get some GCSEs because of the effect all this had on his health. He achieved 1 AS level and 7 GCSEs and has enough to go on. A new and much better chapter in his life started today.

smile.gif I remember my first day at college, it is a much better chapter in my life than school (which was, to say the least, rather a bumpy ride). Hope he enjoys the rest of the day helly burnet.

Lunch made me happy. wink.gif Well, content anyhow- I found some cheese, and some freshly picked salad from the garden, and some other stuff, and had a lovely non-rushed sandwich, whilst listening to some lovely music. Then, just as I was about to leave the kitchen, I remembered Mum had said something about this sweet thing (she was given it by someone at church, from their holiday in Germany), so I decided to have a piece. It looked a bit weird, but it tasted good. smile.gif

I was voted as form rep... again! biggrin.gif

I'm wondering if I can still go for house captain, because at the moment I represent my year of our house, and if I went for that, I'd be representing the whole house... hmmmmm unsure.gif

house captain would look AMAZING on my CV, so it would be good to get it, and loads of fun too smile.gif You have to do a big speech thing, then the whole house votes, so it would be good to say I'd even got up and done the speech in front of 400 odd people laugh.gif

Wow well done Robyn biggrin.gif Definitely have a go for it - I never ever thought I'd be Head Girl, but I went along for the interview like all the prefects did, and I was very pleasantly suprised. smile.gif

What's made me happy today? Working out that I can post on here from my phone when I'm on the school bus (like now smile.gif)

Going to the first Choral rehearsal of the Autumn term. We're doing Messiah on successive nights in December as a celebration of the 125th anniversary of the founding of Newbury Choral Society.

I thought I'd feel really bored, as I've sung Messiah so many times, but actually it's ages since I had any direction for it - it's so often done as a sing-along with minimal rehearsal. Great to be singing in a choir again. smile.gif

I think you'll find it was written not by Albinoni but by his biographer Remo Giazotto. It was based on themes and a figured bass by Albinoni I think.
