I've just joined the West Wiltshire Youth Orchestra to play flute (and piccolo when needed), and will be playing 2nd flute.
I start in September, and it will mean going to the wiltshire music centre in Bradford on Avon, which means a half hour drive every tuesday evening, which isnt too bad, but im nervous about being with all the other players, because they're all roughly grade 8, and one is diploma standard, and i'm only grade 7 standard. My flute teacher said im capable, but im not sure!

The arrival at of a brand new piano - a Kawai CA91.
The faithful Roland whnich has served us for 12 years gave up the ghost last Tuesday and we have exams tomorrow. Enormous sigh of relief. However the handbook is now my overnight reading as the thing terrifies me!

I'm happy because I'm extremely lucky to have a flute and piano teacher whom I get along with who actually teaches me and is fun!:-)

Don't worry, Jacob; I'm sure you'll love it. The other players were all at grade 7 standard not so very long ago and you'll learn lots from playing alongside them. Hope your flute playing goes from strength to strength! smile.gif

Seeing my brother playing in a band on stage - it reminded me of when I first started. It was nice to see all my old tutors as well, and to see them suddenly realise the connection between me and my brother. biggrin.gif

Ooh, and it's only 6 days until Saturday! yay.gif

I got up this morning to find my cat had left me some breakfast just outside the bedroom door. I thanked her for her thoughtfulness, but told her not to bother bringing me mice again. This is the first time she has brought something indoors (and only the second time we've had evidence that her attempts at hunting are actually sometimes successful).

This is not what has made me happy.

What made me happy was that I texted my husband to tell him the above (he was already an hour gone from the house by then). He texted back: "Happy Anniversary Present" - today being our wedding anniversary.

This made me laugh an awful lot, imagining it was from him and not the cat. I have spoken to him since I got to work, and he said sorry he didn't have time to wrap it, but he thought I might like a rodent as a gift rolleyes.gif

yesterday actually, but quite late in the day, receiving a present - the most beautifully crafted and balanced ... will get a lot of use now.
Quite amazing to hold - and then you understand the testimonials on a website ... biggrin.gif

Getting a phone call from a honeymooning couple from New York at whose wedding my children's choir sang, telling me how much she and her family had enjoyed our Irish song, (the bride is Irish) and how it had brought tears to many people's eyes because it was so beautiful. wub.gif
They had worked hard and a compliment like that makes it all worthwhile.

I don't really know what's made me happy today, just the day in general has made me happy I think biggrin.gif!

Good luck DC. smile.gif

I think this has made me happy - I've been offered another job interview. It's puzzling though, 'coz I'm really starting to like my current job. But I need the money... but the people... better hours... less travelling... Anyway, they liked my CV. Decisions!

Sometimes an existing job gets so much nicer when you know you could get out and go somewhere else with relative ease at any time biggrin.gif

In the days when I used to job-hunt, I often found that going for interviews at other companies made me appreciate what I'd already got so much more biggrin.gif
