Aw Robyn that made me laugh tongue.gif There are SO MANY people exactly like that at my school laugh.gif There are 3 of us taking A level maths, and only 2 of us actually talk to eachother to break up the intensity. Today I struck up some stupid conversation with my friend, but the other girl got really angry with us...and lost it completely. She stood up and said she's not satisifed with our behaviour and thinks we should have a more mature and serious attitude to our work. laugh.gif I actually have no idea how I didn't burst from holding in my laughter. Later on we had chemistry, and she spread out 3 lever arch files over the front bench and got out all these revision notes. My friend Saskia and I were on the point of laughing again, when she turned round and said "this is the sort of thing you should be using your energy on, not talking about boys..." laugh.gif It's just soooo funny - I'm really a pretty quiet person and I work so hard at school etc, but she takes it to a level beyond insanity. Roll on this weekend's house party ohmy.gif

Hahahaaaaa, they're great aren't they? Oh dear, how can people take life so seriously..

I've been telling mum and dad all about it, mum said "watch out, she'll tell her parents that she's being bullied and she'll come to get you". Hmm.

I'm just a bit worried now that her mum or dad might be on this forum, and it's their little diddums I'm talking about... or even worse she might be on here! So I won't add any more details, so that if someone thinks it's them, they still can't be exactly sure.

I'm always worried someone will work out which school I go to after my school uniform thread...and then will turn up at an open morning or something or be a teacher there laugh.gif I'm sure it wouldn't happen, but you never know!

Same! If anyone sounds remotely like a music teacher at school, or anyone I know, I will watch their posts and read each word until I find something which tells me it's not them. Once I got so worried that it MIGHT be them that I went through their previous posts, and it wasn't, phew. I'm so paranoid unsure.gif

My 'happy thing' for today (well the past week really) is that tomorrow, I'm going on a school trip to the WW1 battlefields of France and Belgium. I'm very excited!!! biggrin.gif

The bin-men have just been! hurrah.gif This is a big event in Leeds! The council refuse collectors are on strike so occasionally we get a private contractor round, but we never know when they're coming and the last time was about three or four weeks ago. So some people have bins out permanently, others made a mad dash to get their bin out when they heard the truck coming. Great excitement - all the neighbours out, it was like a street party biggrin.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif

Bumping into a friend who goes to Imperial Uni whilst on my lunch break today. I happened to be in the area becauase I was playing at the Royal Albert Hall.

As a result I returned back at 1.40 instead of 1.30 which annoyed Simon, our conductor. It didn't really matter though as we were not on again until 2pm.

It won't make any difference to my standard of life - all but about £50 is going to the college. sad.gif The only difference getting it has made is that I won't be fined for not paying the bill. laugh.gif

I don't understand how so many students manage to spend so much time and money on drinking, even in student bars if they are on an allowance that == pittance. When my cousin was at uni I did a sort of sponsorship thing so he didn't die of malnutrition! wacko.gif The caveat was that he has to buy me a Ferrari if/when he becomes famous! fingersCrossed.gif tongue.gif

I think it really depends on how much your parents will give you or how much you earn during the holidays.

What I found really quite disgusting was that there was a paintball company sitting outside the students union the other day who, when someone said they couldn't afford it, would go into 'so when does your student loan come through' and just wouldn't let the person go. ohmy.gif

Using the hard-sell tactics on someone who clearly doesn't have the money to throw away... great! dry.gif

I do know a few people who have been guilty of misusing funds and really struggled because of it. Lesson learned the hard way for them! laugh.gif At least you're all sorted now... I take it the catering is included in the rent in your accomodation? The fact that you are fed is one big pain handily sorted out to be honest.

I think the tactics used in an alternative situation are people living on beans on toast so they can afford to go out drinking! laugh.gif

Yeah, food is included, so that makes things easier. Books are expensive but, for maths, it seems you can get away with just getting them from the library when you need them. There aren't many other things that need to be payed for that amount to much so what you spend pretty much depends on how much you go out and stuff.

We appear to have sold my late mother-in-law's flat - in under a fortnight from it going on the market! And for a lot closer to the asking price that I expected (I thought they'd priced it optimistically, nothing wrong with that, but I thought'd we have to take a bigger drop than we have!)

My happy thing was last night - son and nephew in school concert, which was a really good one. Then coming home and friend teaching them 12 bar blues on the piano and guitar. They stayed up far too late but I hadn't the heart to send them to bed smile.gif

Not a lot. Played a concert this afternoon with my music group and thanks to a cold gale blowing there were just 10 in the audience! They all seemed to enjoy it and nobody left before we finished (one and a quarter hours). We played, and sang, reasonably well and have a one hour concert with the same (shortened) programme next week so can only hope for better weather this time to encourage them to come.

A happy ending smile.gif

This morning, as I chucked my face flannel into a wash basin full of hot water, I was alarmed to see a mediuim sized house spider (which had apparently been in my flannel) now floating dismally in the water. I scooped him out in my hand and let the water drain away, but he appeared broken and hardly moving. I transferred him - as carefully as possible - to a dry sheet of tissue, but he remained still. I felt that any attempt to dry him off (e.g. with Mrs Mole's hair drier) would be more likely to break him further. So I left him to dry naturally on top of the piano, but without much hope. half an hour later he was still there.

Judge of my delight when I noticed a couple of hours later that he was gone! biggrin.gif Hopefully he has now found a new home in the piano.

Thank you (and I expect the spider would thank you too, if he knew). I'm not a great spider fan, but I never kill them (I like to think they are eating all the other insects I don't like). As long as they keep their distance I'm happy to share the house with them, although I do have to evict (or pretend to evict) any large ones discovered by Mrs Mole or Miss Mole. biggrin.gif
