It has become a new craze at school for everyone to wish everyone else "HAPPY FRIDAY!!!" Including the teachers

Had my grade 5 mock exam with another teacher tonight and got very good results! (Though now teacher thinks we should go for the TG intermediate certificate for real next term )

Arranging to go and play at a Vintage Fair at St Gemma's Hospice in Leeds on 12th/13th December - I'm thrilled to bits about it! I've already rung several friends and family to tell them so I might as well put it on here as well

Nothing really - I'm just in a good mood That might go away soon as soon as I start stressing again, so I should take advantage of it

I had my first driving lesson today, and have a really nice teacher! Plus, I didn't flatten anyone! (I just dented his car on a curb once!). Apparently i'm a natural driver despite hitting the curb once!

I hate to yet again be happy about money, but...

In December I have now received a Silver recognition reward and a Bronze recognition award. I get my ex gratia First Aider thank you payment in my December pay as well. These three between them cover my expenditure at Greenwich last month

Today I got asked if I had five minutes, yes I do...turns out that while inflationary pay rises are going to remain in April each year, the performance pay rise is now moving to December. As my role has been assessed as business critical, it has also been externally benchmarked (i.e. compared to similar jobs in similar companies). This benchmarking, in combination with my high performance, has led to a whopping 7% pay increase It's just ludicrous.

So, happy that our role/department has been recognised as important (for a long time we have been regarded as unimportant), happy that my work personally has been recognised. Happy that I'll take even less time to save up for the new bathroom whcih we are intending to have next year

Determined to find something unmaterialistic to be happy about in my next posting

Finding some useful books at church, including the Carol book, and the harmonisation for a hymn I want to do (but didn't have the music for!)

When I was a teenager my friend and I used to regularly stop in a busy street and point up at the sky and "oooh" and "aaah". It was hysterical how many people joined in without knowing what they were looking at (which was nothing).

Got a job interview for tomorrow

Booked train tickets to go and see my brother just after Xmas, all excited now

Just had a lovely piano lesson

First cycle commute in weeks


Was dark, cold and rainy - and brilliant
Of course, now it is bright and sunny, with rain due to be moving in at around about the time I'll be leaving work

My supervisor texted me to say that she'd "just read the best intro to a thesis of all those [she's] ever read". I'm not sure whether to actually believe her or not. I thought it was too short because it's just under 3,500 words and most people write 5-8,000 for their intro.

Turns out I DID get the Tesco job, so I'm pleased with that! It'll get me a little Christmas shopping money

Most of today has made me happy. It started off well when I got into a lovely vibrant purple skirt that has been far too small for years, then the OU results, getting the majority of my assignment done (and submitting that as a backup), seeing all the people in the music department at the school, and knowing I have a night at home tonight!


*decides this much positivity is bad for me, and listens to some reflective music to get me more "back to normal"*

Got home to find that my nice new hardback copy of Chopin's Preludes Op.28 has arrived

Too much positivity is never bad! Though it can be quite intoxicating, makes you giddy sometimes

Being told that my pitching has improved dramatically since the start of term by the Head of Music. It was rubbish before, and is now OK-ish. Still, that's a start...

I am happy because for once it did not rain on my way to or from college.

I got the solo I wanted in gospel choir (because I was the one who wanted it, but still!) and then someone came up to me in the break and told me it was the best they'd ever heard the solo sung in the years they'd been in the choir.

Good for you! Hope it doesn't wear you out - I always feel sorry for shop staff at this time of year.

My piano teacher - he's offered to do something which has removed a huge amount of stress and I feel tons better

1. Bagpuss' pupes getting excellent results in their AB exams .

2. The BBC being interested in making a Radio 4 programme about Kodály work in this country next year.
