Your clarinet tone is likely to be miles better than what I'm getting from the recorder (and come to think of it, the piano) at the moment! tongue.gif

The onward march of improvement. Your tone has never been poor in my experience, you're just getting it even better, and you're getting much more discerning. smile.gif

Buying some music biggrin.gif

Corelli sonatas Op.5 in case you are interested smile.gif

And having a very nice clear list of Things To Do after I leave work this evening. Hopefully I can squeak 'music practice' in there somewhere as at the moment it doesn't look like there is a lot of space sad.gif

Meeting Skylark, who helped OH and me to choose a new piano today- she also helped prevent our getting lost in Leeds whilst we were about it. biggrin.gif

Meeting up with an old friend whom I haven't seen for 15-20 years. He found me on facebook after hearing me on the radio last November!

I spent much of my misspent youth with him and it was lovely to see him again, even though he's not too well...the fact that tempus fugits for us all made me a bit sad...he still cracks me up though biggrin.gif !

Oh - and getting the Junior Choir concert at Guildhall out of the way. I stress about these events SOOO much sad.gif .

We most certainly did smile.gif we were so intrigued though, there was a lady on the table behind ours who cried her eyes out the entire time she was there-we were that terrible mix of incredibly curious and yet sympathetically concerned at the same time! I hope she was okay though smile.gif

Vivaldi biggrin.gif Just got back from choral society concert, we did Gloria which was a first for me, LURVE it! Plus some Tavener (The Lamb, Song for Athene), Rachmaninov and a few others for starters. All went far better than it had any right to, given how dire rehearsals have been this week!

A bargain!

I like the 4th Sonata especially, not so easy to play though! The 'folk-tune' pieces are somewhat easier, but again can be deceptive; A Hill Tune definitely so (as became evident when I first attempted the piece) with quintuplets above the tenor melody line.

I got the pick of a large amount of early keyboard music today, quite unexpectedly (acquaintance of Head of Dept wanting to see it go to a good home). The music must have come from a serious 'Early Keyboard' player: The Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, Bull, Byrd, Gibbons, Morley, Purcell, Tisdall, Farnaby, The Mulliner Book .....

To do it justice I think I need some lessons with a harpsichordist, so my piano teacher is going to see who best to contact.

I finally found my old violin and piano teacher from South Oxfordshire 1970-1972. I now live between Bolton and Preston and she lives . . . 5 miles away!! Talk about a small world.

My daughter!!!! wub.gif

Surpassing everyone's expectations (except mine because I knew she could do it) by swimming length after length after length of the school pool (17m) without wearing her arm bands.

She's only recently developed the confidence to swim out of her depth without her bands and then only with me alongside her.

I'm so proud of her and she had a HUGE cheshire cat grin on her face when she came out of school today too - she's so pleased with herself too biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif yay.gif :party 2:

WOO!!! Three lovely colleagues and I have just been asked to go and run a session each in Hungary in October - it's the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Kodály Institute in Kecskemét and the lovely new young director of the Institute has asked us to go and do sessions on the adaptation of Kodály in the UK.

Up to now, only one person from the UK has ever been asked to teach at the Institute.

Gosh.

VERY scared but VERY excited!!!
